I have Caldari Cruiser level 3 and fly a Caracal for missions. My heavy missiles should have a velocity of 1,560m/s with a running time of 40 seconds, yeilding a range of 62,400. These npc's did not move away from me and I did not move away from them. I engaged them at 58km with my first salvo, then fired 3 more, they were colsing on me (slowly) so the range did not increase. Only the last missile salvo hit. I was angered that this happened because I was supposed to get 62,400 range. Anyway, I wrapped up by killing Schmidt at close range and going after the escorts and killing them at 48km or less. I just did not want to waste missiles again. My analysis yeilds that the missile speed increase was less than 10% or nothing at all.
I run missions a lot and since patch I had noticed something was wrong with the range. This mission was slow enough to check out what I had thought was happening. The missiles are falling short.
I just tested another mission where the target is almost stationary at 58km. The missiles disappered before they could hit the target at that range. I am very sure now. The Caracal bonus is not equating to longer range.

i can verify this. Fighting an NPC Gurista Mortifier (Moa), it strangely stopped approaching me and completely stopped moving.
All of a sudden, I was missing from well within my range of 57600m (Cruiser lvl 2) |

If the rate of acceleration between the launch and max speed is constant and the time taken to reach that speed is say 4 seconds, then you can shave 2 seconds worth off your total range. About 3km, then again i dont use missiles and i have no idea if they accelerate at all.

i got cruiser 4 and only have a range of about 45ish......anything over 45 and the missles just disappear.

Same as X'Alor, tested it using a can. I fired from 60km, should be able to hit from around 64km(due to the acceleration period) but they only go 45km and disapear.

I have caldari cruiser lvl 5 and you can well imagine how upset I am after spending all that time training the skill only to not see it work properly.
btw I use my caracal for missions too, I do love the caldari ships more then the others (and I can fly em all).

I figure a RoF bonus of 5% would be more easily coded in and would most definitely work. Why isn't that put in instead of a broken bonus? Also, is there an accelleration period on missiles? I haven't read anything on this so I would like to know as it does affect my combat with a Caracal.
Hopefully CCP doesn't wait a month or more to fix this broken bonus as the Caracal is now at a deficit compared to other cruisers.

I feel like we are completely ignored - I posted the disfunctionality of the secondary bonus on the caracal in about 10 places now, including the sticky missile thread, secondary cruiser bonus thread, and various bugreporting threads. Also a thread dedicated to this and other issues that popped up in 1722-24 patch goes into great detail about the nonfunctioning of this bonus - and I know for fact it has been read by several dev's, and one even responded in it. (Not on topic of the issue).
Why are we being ignored? No mention of it, no responses to postings in the forum that are about it - nothing

Yep, the reply read something like this: w0mb-'Yes changes were made to missiles. The game takes place 10,000 years in the future and the guidance systems on missiles havent advanced much since vietnam, therefore missiles will now deflect unless its a direct hit'

Nah seriously it needs fixing. Ive never noticed if the bonus works on my scorp, just assumed it did This needs fixing otherwise the caracal is the only cruiser without a second bonus
