Terrible thing to say - almost calling him an idiot out-right. I asked the same questions myself, and I'm sure you did, too. I ask these same questions every time I try an online game. Everyone does, regardless of how much they've learned from the forums. Don't squash people because you feel like it. No one knows what to do/buy in the first week or so. I only had a better start because I spent 2 weeks playing in the beta.

I went out and finished up some missions and they helped me out immensly. I'm finally starting to get out of the "OMG Newb Freakout" stage and into the somewhat comfortable level of gameplay.
I think I got the gist of things and the basics are starting to come around better. I like complexity and EvE has it. But it's organized and precise complexity that gets easier as you go, unlike SWG which was complex but mind bogglingly disorganized.
Thanks for the offer Elucidate, but I'm not of the Gallente race. Appreciate it though

Stellus, feel free to contact me in game if you have questions. If I don't know the answer, I can quickly get it.
As far as the ships thing goes, many corps will supply you with a better frigate to help you get started. Mine does, and if you want to go that route I could discuss that with you as well. I handle most of the recruiting for my corp. (we don't allow pirates in our corp, so if thats something you want to do we aren't an option, but I have friends who like that sort of thing I could put you in contact with)

i'd also like to say thanks for the above advice, i'm also new to the game and the topic title is about what i'm feeling too.. but i like the fact that it's confusing.. it means there is alot more to learn :D one thing that struck me about this game from my first couple of hours on it last night to reading these forums is just how helpfull people are. i felt realy unprepared not having a manual to flick through when ever i felt confused (apart from the PDF on the disc) but people in the Rookie channel were wonderfull.. and supreemly patient to put up with the seemingly endless "im new.. help!" requests. i'm looking for a new ship too.. not sure if i quite need one yet but i'm looking (hint hint ;) lol ) everything seems sooooo expensive though.. but i suppose if they wern't, the game would get boring real quick.
it's definatly a refreshing change from Star Wars Galaxies and much more my kind a game :D

Yes, I agree. The community is extremely helpful with new players. I think it's safe to say that the EvE community is by far the friendliest I've seen in an MMO. The Rookie Help chat channel was extremely patient with the mass amount of trial users in-game.
Thanks to everyone for the help and to psssdoff for his generous donation. Good luck out in the deep black sea of outer space!

Not to get too personal but Nilit's prolly a power gamer.
NC was the most powerful faction in PS, and Amarr has the best stats in Eve with a 3 in CHA and the very best starting Indy.
Prolly played a Necro in Everquest too, but then again didn't we all?
