1) Yes, but that's what he wants. Once you shoot him, he has the right to defend himself and will most likely go fetch a (much) bigger ship to do so. 2) No. Revenge on thieves counts as a "legal kill" (as long as the 15 minute criminal timer is still active), so no kill rights are given. 3) No. The corp-wide theft flagging does not apply to NPC corps. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Afaik, the loot is owned by whoever accepted the mission, and any theft aggression will be assigned to him (and only him if we're dealing with an NPC corp). He can allow others to access that loot by setting standings and such, but that doesn't affect the criminal flagging of theives in any way — the owner is still the same, and the crime committed is stil against him. By setting positive standings to his co-missionrunner, he's just allowing that friendly party to take stuff without being flagged. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Do you mean Loot or Salvage?
afaik Loot is the mission owners, but Salvage is anyone who fancies it. First time It happened to me I was watching the guy at my wrecks, Locked him and waited for him to turn flashy, didn't happen, all I saw was my wrecks turning to Cargo Containers .
It's high time CCP changed the rules on this, and set a time limit on salvaging a mission, maybe 1 hour then the Wrecks & Contents can be had by anyone.
Only way I could get rid of the little blighter was as there were still a couple of npc's left to kill, I warped out of the mission and then back in.
Yes I'm a carebear and don't give a monkies what any Yarring thinks, I choose to run missions and should be able to defend my 'spoils of war' from irritating little scroungers who have their main scan me down and send in the Alt salvager who's in an NPC corp.
The whole system needs looking at imo, if I defend my loot/salvage by shooting the flagged thief then they shouldn't have any kill rights on me as I was defending them, and concord should back me up.
It's not often I'm wrong, apart from the comments I make in the signature, and then I'm often wrong. On the other hand maybe I'm getting confused. ......My head hurts :( |

CCP DID change it. They changed it so that mission wrecks are not owned by anyone, and can be salvaged aggro-free for the duration of their stay in space..
..If you want it so bad, you'll have to beat me to it.

I mission where the agents are, and since it's a good agent I run the risk of scavengers I guess, or I find the next agent which it'll probably be low-sec so I get gankers instead.
Hmm Damned if I do and Damned if I don't

This has been brought many many times.Simply put its a pvp game( as in player vs player). Some players decide to be good law abiding <cough> boring<cough> pilots and some choose to engange in not so nice activities. That would be like the pvpers saying take the carebears high sec away so we can legally kill them their. Such players just use what resources they are allowed in high sec to well pirate.
They arent going to change the game soon. Salvaging ( including ninja salvaging) is a mini profession and CCP intended for it to work as it does. Ninja looting, baiting, and can flipping are basically like mini professions to.
Pretty much your just going to have to out think those that would bait or ninja you. Try baiting the baiterss. thats really funny though alot of work and requires a few corpmates( and a player ran corp) but its hilarious.

You can just blow away your wrecks when a Ninja Salvager appears.
You get bounties and mission rewards, the Ninja salvager gets nothing.
If the Ninja salvager comes in before you have cleared the area/pocket, warp out and let the ninja salvager take all the aggro. It has been done, the Ninja Salvager's wreck was looted and salvaged.
It has been said before if you are missioning in a location that seems to you have to a high number of ninja salvagers, take along a corpmate or someone you trust, you take all the aggro, the corpmate salvages.
At the end of the mission you split the take of loot/salvage. Every Plan lasts until the first shot is fired. "I have a Plan, a good one." Generally means it is not. If Yellow it get a Fellow Killed |

Had nothing to do with deadspace. You shot him, giving him free reign to shoot back at you.

So train Salvaging and fit a Salvager. It's not that demanding: it's a rank 3 skill and you only need Mechanic III and Survey III. I'm sure you can squeeze that into your busy mission-running schedule. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I believe in WoW you can PvP whenever.
Ninja salvagers are just carebears and often noobs (who have read a guide from net) that want fast money. Gimme the right to shoot them so that they have to come with PvP fitted ships to salvage. That'll make things much more interesting. There's far too little PvP in EVE for beginners anyway.
All this talk about "salvaging as a mini-profession" is total bs and makes me laugh.

Tough. It's what CCP calls it, so whether you feel it's BS or not, it's still the truth. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Sorry if it bothers you when someone expresses an opinion. And I would hardly call it a "whim" based on the posts in the forums. There are good arguments both ways. I respect your opinions and reasoning, and expect you to respect mine.
Ninjas don't bother me that much and they can be avoided to some extent. I just want more action in the game, even before moving to low-sec or 0.0. If salvaging is a profession, why not add even some risk to it. After all, there's a risk involved to most other activities in EVE.

Yes there is, except maybe mission-running. So it's only appropriate that ninja salvaging — feeding mainly on missions as well — is also risk-free. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Are you even reading the posts here? Ninja salvagers do this while the mission is being run. I do salvage. I go back to dock, hop in my cormorant, and head out to spend 20 minutes salvaging.

In other words, you can beat the ninjas to the salvage. You just choose not to.
The only reason why would "could not" do it would be if you didn't have the skills for it yet, and those are easy to get since they are low-rank have low-level or no-level prerequisites.
