Im also interested in going into 0.0 but really don't know how to. i've only started slowly getting steady income in the game so I can afford to lose more ships but that took me months.
I agree with you regarding the heavy divisions in high and low sec. there needs to be more tension between the two. people in highsec (calling them carebears won't help your argument) need to get used to getting in the trouble when they leave the station. And that includes me. -- autechre - ep7 - track 1: rpeg estevancarlos.com |

Added to that, the problems I hear about WoW relate to how the casual gamer -- who now form the largest demographic -- are turning the game into something entirely different.
CCP should really consider this. There's certainly no way to please everyone all the time. We can agree on that. CCP should also consider what audience it wants down the line.
Frankly, I suspect the Jumpgate MMO will attract the more casual players in the coming months. -- autechre - ep7 - track 1: rpeg estevancarlos.com |

The real EVE starts when you get out to PvP (be it fighting or market PvP), so perhaps the real problem is that part of the game being pushed further and further away from where you start. And I'd imagine it is do to the players themselves having created such large entry barriers into low-sec and null-sec (and trading and industry), that new players are forced to spend more time in empire. I don't think it needs to be argued that, unless you know someone, 0.0 is a long time away. CCP has simply accommodated for that by adding more to do. I'm not saying that's ideal or even correct, but it seems like a more logical progression. And if that IS correct, then CCP adding things like FW or wormholes should be hailed by players because they're meant to break down some of those barriers to entry.
I think you're absolutely right. My goals for a while now have been to spend time in low sec (because I have no interest in paying a monthly fee for a trading simulator) but if you don't know anyone there you're left to do things on your own like learn to make money so you can buy a ship, so you can lose the ship, and so you can replace it without too much effort. For some players in takes months to make enough money to invest it in nice ships and fittings and to replace it after being ganked outside a gate within 5 minutes. -- autechre - ep7 - track 1: rpeg estevancarlos.com |

And by the way i went into 0.0 with about 7mill SP and iam, TBH, doing rather well in pewpew terms. I use my wits learnt of good players (friendly and hostile) and now iam one of our corps FCs. Killing a falcon just today with a officer ECM, how good that made me feel can not be put into words ... oh and a reaper.
It's taken me several months to get to 7mil SP. In that case we may be different brands of players. Maybe it's inevitable that you're going to have certain kinds of more casual players on here. 7mil SP wasn't easy to me. -- autechre - ep7 - track 1: rpeg estevancarlos.com |
