Just got a email from Game UK;
As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Eve Online has changed to 13-Mar-2009. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control.
This a hint of delays to come with the actual server release? or has someone screwed up in shipping the disks?

AFAIK the gamebox have alwys had the releasedate on the 13th of march, while the game itself will get its expansion on the 10th.. I have not heard anything about changes, so I guess this is still the dates..

Releasing the box a few days after the patch hits is a smart move to ensure that new players will not get caught up in the chaos that is the server after a patch.

Because here in the US we have some strange fetish with releasing games on Tuesday.

Hey there,
Apocrypha is scheduled to be released as planned... 10 Mar. We're looking into why Game UK is stating otherwise. Thanks for calling it to our attention :)

If you're looking into it, here's another one: http://www.bol.com/nl/p/games/eve-online-special-edition/1004004006473184/index.html
"Nog niet verschenen - reserveer een exemplaar Beschikbaar op 13.03.2009" Basically they're saying it's unavailable for now but it will be available @ 13.03.2009 ..

Edited by: Anderson on 05/03/2009 17:23:23 Maybe they've had so many preorders on their first stock of the box set, so they don't have any more available until the 13th. Or something along those lines.
Edit: They censor the word r.etard? Ok, I'll use SpEd in the future.

Ummm... Game is talking about the Box release, not the expansion. As for why: They got the wrong date in the first place.

Edited by: Othran on 05/03/2009 17:35:59 Edited by: Othran on 05/03/2009 17:35:18 Some of us remember Game from the last time. Boxes on shelves for one week never to be seen again except in bargain bin 3-6 months later. Some of us also remember Game as the tossers who killed Barrysworld servers - hi Bazerka & the rest of the ex-BW staff if you're reading.
In short Game are the worst possible retailer in the UK for people who actually like GOOD games. Please don't give them your money, there are plenty of other options.

edit: apparently they changed it to the 12th.

Game.co.uk originally had the release for the 6/03/2009, which is why the OP is posting about the date being moved.
Just to note, there is no problem with shipping of the retail boxes as my local store has them in the stock room right now. The release date for Game.co.uk was pushed from the 6th to the 13th to match the rest of the world's release date for the retail box.

For some reason, all of this kind of retail release happens on Fridays, has done for years. It's bit me in the ass a couple of times with expansions for other MMOs in the past.

Hmmm. Think you can persuade the people at your local store to tell you how many copies they have and how many more they can order if sold out? Would be interesting to see what CCP marketing thinks they can risk for the initial sales volume.

Sent a text to my friend, hopefully he'll answer... if he knows the amounts off by heart.
He's going to think I'm planning to claim as many copies as possible or something.

Uh...
The boxed game doesn't/won't have Apocrypha in it...
It's QR, anyone buying it will still have to download the new patch (unless CCP have figured out time-travel - the masters were sent to the pressing plants when Apocrypha was still about 50% completed). ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

Quite why they'd release the box on the same day that they put a patch on the servers baffles me.
It's certainly a nice way to welcome people to the game; "server offline, try back in 3 days once we work out wtf we did, aight."
