I was bored at work, so whipped up this image from an old test file of mine. Image done in 3dsmax w/ vray and Dreamscape for clouds. Some photoshop. Hope you enjoy.

Pretty.... also my new wallpaper. Unfortunately for me, none of the ships I fly would translate well to this type of background... it would look off to have a larger than frigate sized ship cruising around in atmosphere.

Not to take a weewee on anyones parade, but those pics are hardly difficult to make. Find a nice picture of clouds, export ship models with triexporter, put ship on picture in PS, add engine trails and a touch of blur to cover up blending issues. So it is hardly a case of "mad skills".
That being said the pictures are very nice, and the idea is very good.

That being said the pictures are very nice, and the idea is very good.
Well, your right I suppose, it doesn't take mad skills to throw together some renders. But one person's definition of mad skills is likely to vary from one person to another. Though if I may say, I rendered the clouds, they're not a photograph. I am getting a little bored with the scene though, might look at something else. Thanks for the kind words everybody.

Nice compositing work. One suggestion though: add some variation in the ships, different bank angles, etc. Even a formation flight won't be quite perfect.
