Tempests are really nasty 1v1, but their sub-par tank and damage hurt them in larger close-range brawls. I'm of the opinion that fall-off set-ups are the way to go. Armor tank it flying solo or with 1 or 2 other people and shield tank it if you have plenty of tacklers. The set-ups in this thread are all pretty good, though I would go with a TD II instead of an ECM II. ECM isn't very reliable without a ship bonus, but TDs are still quite effective with the spec skill up to at least 4. They also work better with range/speed based tactics that befit a fall-off tempest.

The setup seems interesting, recently I have been toying with falloff rigs on mini ships now and never really thought about the pest. I think it would work as long as you can keep range on heavy hitting ships.
The only things that concern me are the medium injector and the tank. For the most part the injector will keep up with what you need to run, but when a situation might get out of hand you will probably struggle with cap. The tank will work unless you get hit by anything with good dps that you stay within a moderate range of.
You might also want to think about changing the eccm for an ewar module (td would be nice vs blaster/pulse). For the most part if you come up against anyone that has an ecm ship, you will be jammed a lot regardless of eccm or not (this mainly applies to solo). But in my experience I tend to have eccm fit when I dont need it (or it just becomes useless) or an ewar module when I would like to have eccm. It is all personal preference really. But I say go try it out, I would like to know how it does and see it in action.

yeah I would rather a TD than an ECM but TD will only really be effective against other matarr and gallente, with the huge optimal of laz0rs a td prolly wont help much (optimal range disruption wise anyway) but againt mega's and stuff I guess it would help, still I prefer ECCM > all these days (or have a sensor booster fitted and an ECCM in my cargo incase i need it on short notice)

Would this be an area where the fleet tempest might actually be good?
[Tempest Fleet Issue, nano t2 ] Damage Control II Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer Republic Fleet Nanofiber Structure Republic Fleet Nanofiber Structure Republic Fleet Nanofiber Structure

If you have a claymore with agility links in gang, this is more agile than a solo sleipnir, without snake set it will do 1600m/s, with it will do around 2000. 6+43 opt/falloff, nearly 800 dps at optimal, 116k EHP in gang. You can of course downgrade all the faction stuff, it will still fit, I was just trying to give it a fit somewhat reminiscent of its faction battleship status.

You're not tanking 2.5k dps, especially if they are using berserkers/valks...
IN fact that is not even too hard. Those 2 ships usually don't have webs fitted.. Would be even easier with AB not MWD. At close range outtrackign pulse lasers is quite easy for a tempest non webbed. And his lar should be enough to tank the drones.
Of course if the 2 geddon pilots are very smart and reposition themselves around 35 km from each other.. things become a bit harder...
The torp ravens will be hitting for about 17% of their full damage against an AB tempest non webbed.....
Not saying THAT is how he would do it. But just saying there are ways to do it. ------------------------------------------------- If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough

the TD is wonderful against ammar.. makes even a badger able to out-track their Pulses

the fit is good but i would compromise the tank for damage because at 50km damage is ur priority not tank
