Edited by: Dierdra Vaal on 06/03/2009 13:25:12 Eve University guide writing competition
tl;dr version Hello everyone! Eve University is organising a guide writing competition that is open to everyone. You can enter any guides you've written yourself, provided they are not more than one (1) month old. In return, we offer prizes :D (see below).
Who is Eve University and why is this event being held? Eve University is the largest, and one of the oldest new player training corporations in Eve. We take in brand new players and help them climb the steep learning curve of Eve with advice, mentoring, ingame classes and events as well as written or recorded guides that we collect or make ourselves. All staff at Eve University are volunteers; people who take some of their ingame time and dedicate it to helping new players get a good start in the game. You can find our recruitment topic here.
We are organising this event because on March 15th Eve University turns five years old! A five year anniversary is a big step for us, which we celebrate with a number of events - this being one of them. Additionally, we hope to gain some cool new guides for our newbies through this event.
What sort of guides can enter? Any guides! It doesn't matter if your guide is about how to get the most of out of a Bantam, or if it is a guide about capital warfare tactics. As long as it covers some sort of Eve related subject it's fine.
What we look at We will judge the guides on the following aspects:
- Clarity / How newbie friendly is the guide? (advanced eve topics can be explained in a newbie friendly way)
- Orginality (how many similar guides already exist?)
- How extensive is this guide? (is it just a brief overview, or an in-depth dissertation)
- Correctness (is the information in the guide actually correct)
What are the prizes First place: 250,000,000 (250mil) ISK Second place: 150,000,000 (150mil) ISK Bonus for most original guide: 50,000,000 (50mil) ISK Random lucky draw: 50,000,000 (50mil) ISK
How do I enter? Write your guide, and make it available to us through posting a link in this thread. Make sure we can read it, so no exotic file formats! Forum topics are ok provided we do not need to register somewhere to get to them.
The deadline is March 15th, our birthday.
Legalese and fine print We plan to publish these guides on our forums to make them available to new players. By entering this contest you indicate that you are cool with this. We wont take credit for your guide.

Please spread the word of this competition in your corp or alliance. Not everyone watches the Events and Gatherings forums :)

Guide to running a general corporation.
So far just a simple guide on how to run a corporation. This is the first guide I have ever written, If its popular I'll keep updating it and make it more in-depth.

As I sit here with my Rifter / Tackler waiting a for a fleet request I finally begin to emerge from the numerous E-UNI how-to posts to come across the article contest. As this is the last day to submit, this seems like as good a time as any to give this a go. Besides, I relocated my consciousness to this jump clone and with no implants (and little ISK to buy any) I need the money.

I've always wanted to write a conclusive guide on some PvP topics but never had the incentive to, kinda wish I had seen this before. oO ___________________

Pleasure to write for you. I'll probably write some followups with techniques I've worked out since then, I'll fire them over if and when I get around to it.
