Edited by: Machagon on 07/03/2009 09:38:43 okay.... so i recently took part in a little FW op and with some help scored my first ever PVP kill. Among the drops were an Amarr Navy Multifrequency S and a Scorch S.
I'm still very new, so the 1.5 Mill ISK or so that these mods represent is real money to me. However, I can't sell them on the market or via contract because they are "damaged". Neither however can I seem to repair them.
Are they of any value at all? Is there any way to sell them aside from meeting someone in space and jettisoning them? Is there any way to repair them? If I had the laser turret skill, could I at least use them myself?
Basically.... should I just trash them?
Sorry if this is stickied somewhere. I did look. Honest.

Yes, though you'd need to be able to use T2 small lasers to use the Scorch.

Give them to a buddy. Free, if slightly worn, faction ammo is always something that shouldn't go to waste. |

There is always someone around who can use damaged crystals if you cant yourself, just hand them out free and make lots of new friends
On a side note; the navy crystals can ALWAYS be reprocessed into minerals, Scorch cannot however.

You can still do the direct trade in station - i.e. you find a buyer for the crystals by talking to them, you both dock in the same station and open up a trade window; you offer your crystals and he offers the agreed price in ISK. This at least has the benefit that there's no need for escrow; if you're jettisonning them in space, then there will by definition be a point where one party holds both the crystals and the ISK, and can decide to renege on the deal at that point leaving the other party out of pocket. Besides, the one who takes from the can will be flagged to your corp for 15 minutes, and so will either have to stay docked or entrust his ship to your word, which is going to be a big inconvenience for him. Just use the trade window for trades.
Still - there's the potential for the scam since it's impossible for the buyer to know exactly how damaged the crystal is and thus how much life he can reasonably get out of it. There would be nothing to stop you saying "these are 10% damaged" and instead trading him something that's 99% damaged and falls apart in a couple of shots - the buyer has no way of telling the difference until the trade is completed. Likewise, if you can't fit small lasers I don't think you can actually find out yourself either.
Long story short, you can only really trade faction/T2 crystals amongst people you trust, or who are prepared to take a bit of a gamble with their money. If you're taking part in FW, I'm sure some of your corpmates (or militiamates) that use small lasers will take them off your hands and give you a reasonable price for them. The older players in particular will likely empathise with your situation, and can afford to risk a million or two ISK.
