Edited by: Hirana Yoshida on 07/03/2009 18:56:06 Just tested the core probes in FW area and things do not look good for "honest" players (those of us who do not believe in abusing flawed mechanics).
One of the major flaws in the current FW mechanic is that a frigate can speed tank any complex he chooses. Even minor sites, which can be cleared in the blink of an eye, are being speed tanked these days.
The new Core Probe Launcher with its insanely low CPU requirement (15tf) will magnify this problem a hundred fold and utterly destroy what is left of the "honest" plexing players.
I implore you CCP Greyscale to make it so that FW cannot be found by dropping a single probe and thus revealing ALL sites in one go. Either that, or put pressure on your peers and have them code it so that an enemy plex can only be captured if the entire navy spawn is dispatched.

I totally support this call as an active and "honest" plexer. This new game-mechanic only favors even more the "single hand frigate I defeat a whole battleship with support fleet only by turning rounds" players. Why is it so difficult to make conquering complexes a real needed team-effort so pvp will for sure occur.

Edited by: Harlequ1n on 08/03/2009 00:43:53 Its easy, 'a plex is only captured when all enemy forces, NPC and player have been removed from grid.'
No more speed tanking, and no more capturing objectives while 30 enemy ships watch you and do nothing.
But then there are so many other things wrong with FW atm, and many many threads full of good ideas for it...
Edit: Note to self: read all the OP's post before saying exactly the same thing!

Defensive plexing: boring as hell. No interaction at all. Applicable tactics, very few.
Scanning for plexes: boring as hell. Nearly no interaction at all. Applicable tactics, nearly none.
Offensive plexing by killing NPCs: a bit like missioning, decent enough unless you've done it 20+ times, then it starts to get boring.
Offensive plexing by speed tanking: more efficient and a lot safer, but again boring as hell.
There are too many (potential) plexes for the number of FW players at the moment. They don't function as PvP magnets, only as incidental PvP locations.
Plex spawning mechanics are DT dependent (bad bad bad!), have a large random factor and are not easily predicted and very poorly understood by players.
The only two good things about the plexing mechanics are:
1. Size restrictions to plexes (no eternal 'shipping up', less one-sided battles) 2. Taking battles away from Gates/Stations (with their annoying timer mechanics and sentries)
If all the other plex mechanics go tomorrow and I won't shed a single tear. If CCP wants people to do things that are not interesting from a game-play perspective, they need to offer players alternative incentives (like better rewards), but the far better option is to design better game play.
