Originally by: Roy Boaz So I decided to go to singularity to test the new content, which I was very sceptical about. Started the 1.4 GB download but disconnected after 400 MB. When I restarted, the clever Download manager didn't manage anything: I restarted from scratch. I don't have unlimited download bandwith and such flawed design and service is unacceptable in 2009. Guess I will be putting on a very long skill for ApoGrind, just in case I don't log in for a very, very long time...
Yes! You can have my stuff! The first one to give me the author and historical importance of the following French Verse will get my fitted CNR :
"Les sanglots longs des violons de l'automne, bercent mon coeur d'une langueur monotone".
ôChanson dÆautomneö (ôAutumn Songö) is a poem by Paul Verlaine, one of the best known in the French language. It is included in VerlaineÆs first collection, PoFmes Saturniens (1866)
The first and second lines of the poem (Les sanglots longs des violons de lÆautomne / Bercent mon c£ur dÆune langueur monotone.) were broadcast by the Allies over Radio Londres in 1944 as a code message to the French Resistance in preparation for D-Day. When the second line was broadcast over the radio waves, it signaled that the invasion was to come in 24 hours.

I can tell you, I did NOT expect anything to come of this. Roy, /salute, bro. You've kept your word, and in internet spaceships that's a very rare thing indeed. Good man.
And thanks!

The french have never won a war, even the wars fought against themselves.
The one part of France that I truly respect, is the French Foreign Legion. Needless to say, it's made up of foreigners.

Actually you not having unlimited bandwidth is what should be unacceptable to you.
That's actually going to be the more common standard. It's already coming to the US, which is a little behind on the power curve as far as internet usage and availability are concerned.
Many of our states don't even have affordable connections over 56k. Affordable, being less than $60 or $70 a month just for the connection. It's only a matter of time before we 'catch up' to the rest of the modern world, and provide both affordable, and regulated internet access.
It happens with every industry. The net is not new or different. It'll be a crying shame, though, especially for online gaming.

Yeah just another fine example of Fascist Liberal taxation and regulation policies. I like how you put "catch up" in quotes here. I would say it's quite regressive.
French Rifle for sale... never been fired, only dropped once.
Progression is never enjoyed by the people who were sitting pretty in the old system. Hahahaha ...

Originally by: Le Sabre Ive never heard of 'unlimited' bandwidth before, that must be one heck of a system they got. *Points out that there is nothing in the universe to mans knowledge that is unlimited*
Seriously though, most people don't have 'unlimited' bandwidth as not everyone lives in the centre of an American city. Not trying to be nasty about it, but as an example I cant find a single UK internet provider that doesn't use a 'f.u.p.' (fair usage policy) that prevents large single downloads and going over an allotted amount of bandwidth per month.
The US seems to be the last little bastion, I guess, where they don't limit how much you can download and access.

Never realized things are that bad in the US... I had previously 24 eur/mo 10/10mbit connection. Most months I got past 2 terabytes of traffic...
Out of fifty states, more than half don't have regular broadband connections. So much of our country is still stuck with 56k, unless they dish out a LOT of money to monopolized industries.
It's easy for my ignorant 'America is the bestest' friends here to forget that.
