Wrong again.
The major form of progression in this game is by training skills, and that's only one example of a very important aspect of the game that has no PVP whatsoever.
Dr Caymus beats you. You lose.

By that logic me walking down the path with a runner going down the path faster is competition over who gets to the end first. Even though I was not racing and just going at my own pace and there is more than enough room for us both. A waiting list is not competition it's just a waiting list. We are not trying to get on the list faster than the other people. We have not yielded we are just adding our name at the end of a list.
Going at your own pace and adding your name to the end of a list is hardly competition. If you have yielded to someone as you have no interest in competing then surely you're not competing so its not PvP. When someone ravs there engine to race at red light me choosing not to race is not competing. Same for Eve if you choose not to take part then its not competing.
How is me sitting in a sector boosting a few friends mining competing? It could turn to competing but so far in years it never has.
You're increasing their efficiency vs other, non-boosted miners. Therefore they can sell more minerals, or sell more cheaply for the same profit. You're also enabling them to claim a greater share of a finite resource, potentially at the expense of other players.
That's as PvP as it gets tbh.

Originally by: Pottsey Malcanis said " You're increasing their efficiency vs other, non-boosted miners." We might be more efficient but we are not competing against those miners. We are not trying to mine faster than them. We doesn't matter what speed we mine compare to them and there is enough ore for us all. That and they could join the fleet for the same boosts.
Just because other people are doing the same thing it does not mean we are competing against each other.
Take a complex if I am solo in there I dont see it as competing. If someone else comes in but the rats spawrn faster then we both kill I dont see it as competing. It only turns to competing at the point there are not enough rats or we shoot each other. Same for roids in the sectors I hang out and give boosts there are more then enough roids so I dont see it as competing.
Whether or not you admit it, it's true. Everything you do effects the rest of the population, however minutely. If those miners are selling any of that ore, then I don't see how you can avoid the obvious fact that you are engaged in pvp of the economic variety.
Anyway, I'm not going to get sucked into one of your notorious back-and-forth threadnaughts. If you don't want to accept that EvE is a multiplayer PvP game, then really, I dont mind at all. Just don't expect any sympathy if & when that assumption bites you in the ass.
