Gosakumori Noh Viziam Amarr Empire 36	Posted - 2012.04.27 04:42:00 - [1] - Quote I'm about as big a carebear as they come, and I think the "Jita Burns" event was a fantastic opportunity to see some very pretty lights. Moreover, the "time dilation" feature is pretty freaking amazing. I took a bunch of pictures with a little Sebiestor parked in a noob ship. Any ship in the foreground that is not a noob ship is not me. The Drake and the Abaddon featured in several images took insane punishment. Pretty much every Abaddon that undocked shot at that Drake, and it lasted plenty long. Ultimately, however, the Drake popped and I believe the Abaddon I was watching survived. I was a bit surprised by the freighters at first, too, but I didn't see any of them get attacked. The charon image was one of the last ones I was around for, and I think it really is an example of the game's visual appeal at its best: Charon That freighter just looks magnificent, there.

Really, it didn't seem to me that GoonSwarm was actually out to cause all that much harm.

I almost got the DrakeSwarm, but it started to break up just as I arrived. Those rectangles reminded me of the monoliths in one of the 2001 movies. When the (I believe Orphanage) Abaddons emerged from the station, that also felt very cool - but large groups of ships don't really come out of stations in a photogenic way.

And i just got a new wallpaper CCP add another race of ships into the game... Not even the people just the ships... now i know there would be all sorts of copyright issues to iron out... but i want to fly an Irken Titan known as the "Massive"... Invader Zim is an amazing show.

I consider this a successful demonstration of capability. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

At first, I was certain someone would set off a smart bomb and obliterate my Reaper (using the "look at" feature from a safe distance only works so well, because the target doesn't stay put). But once it became clear that wasn't very likely to happen, the freighters became the best part of the whole thing. The freighters became remarkably graceful and calm counterpoints to everything else going on. None of them were attacked (that I saw). The Charon is probably the overall favorite shot I've taken in the game, ever, but this "cute little" Obelisk peeking in from the corner, while a couple of Tornados fly in formation and a battleship points itself so perfectly at at the camera it becomes Darth Vader's fighter, is also fun: Hello! Don't mind me, I'm just a big old freighter. My expectations for the event were that it would fizzle, but it neither fizzled nor seemed to cause any "vicious" harm to Jita. It was a extremely very fun live event that showed off many of the game's best features - including the technical chops of the time dilation team (without which, the servers would almost certainly have come crashing down).
