Still not sure what the whole jove body part thing was. I have my parts still.
If the average player reacts in a specific way ie has a monopoly or close to it he is going to keep his prices high.
Since noone can reverse engineer say a cap recharger II then there is no hope of competition whichg in turn brings down the price.
So when he says the devs are artificially keeping the price up he is right. There are no in game methods of achieveing goals with tech II or other wanted items.
It is a lottery. Personally it took six months of doing my RP mission almost everyday (keeping me away from playing the game because my agent was so far away from my corp) and I got a med shield extender II. I haven't even bothered to make any because it is a waste of tech level II tools, a near worthless item.
I think the devs are smart enough to realize that some of their modules get fitted more often than others? Some of the items are just worthless while others are must haves. Because of this certain items probably should have been weighted so that more entered the market.

I don't see why they are not being released right now. This is the future Tech 2. I would just like to get some kind of idea what time frame the "future" is. I have nothing against anyone I'm just kind of tired of the tech 2 game as are most of us.

I dont think the new players realise just how easy it is to start right now.
It took me months to even get my first few million in reserve. Of course that had to do with being in a corp, which did build my ships for me. But all in all every single activity in eve now gets you at least twice the isk it did a year ago.
And NO, prices ae not twice what they were a year ago, by far.

Naaa, this is possible. In my first 5 weeks I made 30M (and I bought cruiser, mining equipment etc. on top of that) mining Scordite and I have a day job ;) 60M is easily possible if you don't get out much.

You realize that Eve doesn't cater to mega-corps, mega-corps cater to Eve. You can't be a powerful corp without knowing the game and playing it well. So I think no matter what CCP does, mega-corps will have an advantage because they created an advantage for themselves.
And digitalcommunist....inflation is more demand than supply.

In responce to DigitalCommunist:
If you have so much isk, do something that will make EVE even better. Start your own corperation of just PvP's and take down all those alliances. Wouldn't that be fun?
Control feels good. Money = control. |

Me, Personaly - Im bored with Eve at the present time. done the pvp, done the mining, done the building and done the missions . Yes I know that Eve offers more but after over 12 months of virtual power playing the game has little to offer in terms of interest. 2 accounts closed and only on the 2nd january 2005 till this one shuts down. I found out my forte/niche in eve and thats building . but to progress I have to do assenyne missions - to get the credability.. to get the chance to work with mission agents, who by total random dice throwing will throw me a bpo of the next generation of eve ... I must admit the older players have been very poorly treated with regards all of the above when it comes down to ccp trying to get the enb cash and to make the game n00b friendly... ( Im not asking for flames or derogatory remarks it is just an opinion - that you either agree or disagree with)
So Ill see out the rest of my 'contract' then sell the account to a spotty 14 year old with daddies cc. as to the other 2 accounts any one wanna buy a 5.8 mill one and a 1 mill sp one?
Regards to you all

In EVE everyone gets richer over time, it is the nature of the game.
You start in frigates making a little bit of isk by mining small amounts per hour or killing NPC frigates etc. Later you find yourself in a position to afford a Cruiser, you can now mine more per hour since you can fit more lasers have a bigger hold etc, and you can now fight stronger NPCs for bigger bounties. Eventually you can afford a Battleship which again, greatly increases your income. You train skills, you gain experience in your chosen profession and hence become even more efficient at making money.
Getting rich isn't a problem for anyone; the limit to your wealth is your own commitment to playing the game. In time even someone who only plays for a couple of hours a week can become mega rich.
Eventually it gets to the stage when you're equal to everyone. You only need so many ships and so much equipment - you have everything that you want, your money just starts to collect. In the current game climate you're just as well off having everything you want and 100 Mill in your wallet as someone who has all that they want and 1 Bill in their wallet.
What use is money when you have nothing to spend it on? This 'problem' eventually makes everybody equal.
I currently have everything I want, I'm waiting for Dreadnoughts and/or Titans to be released. My big cash pile means I'll probably be able to afford these as soon as they hit the markets, but after I have these, what else it there until the next 'must have' item comes along? I'll be on a growth plateau again, my wallet will grow, but I'll have nothing to spend it on and eventually people who started the game after me will catch up again.
Eventually everybody becomes equal, how long it takes you to get to this stage depends on how many hours a day you are prepared to play, but it will happen eventually - Unless CCP release new content at a much greater frequency. *hint hint* __________________

To those who ***** about the jove/cloak event, especially Caldari's
Get lost! sorry but how about opening your eyes and start paying attention to what's happening around you.
Close to 200 ppl got a cloak from the Caldari effort for as little as ONE jove bit handed in to the CEC
Eve is all about getting your virtual sitting device out of the sofa and doing things. Some things work, others get you shot down in flames, but you live on, you learn what to do and what not to do.
Besides if we could just log on to a msg from CCP saying "congratulations on loggin on for the 30th time this month, here's your well earned battleship" What reason would there be to play in the first place?
And about the "all content is geared towards the vet's" Is that really that bad? Go run a couple of hundred(thousand) missions, start your fab up with a bs for the 1001th time and you will be glad there's more content for you besides what you can get at in a month or two's play.
The vet's have all been through their n00b, intermediate and advanced player stages to get to where they are today. And more than a few of them are more than ready to lend a helping hand, ear or ship to someone who is at a point where they themselves were 6 or 12 months ago.

Some would call me a power gamer, and I work 70+ hours a week at a job, and have an active social life outside gaming. The system for distributing skill points slows me down over what other MMO's do. So Eve is helping the casual gamers out, and I think that is great they are doing so.
assuming a 7 day working week and the following facts/assumptions... no. hrs per week = 168 no. hrs worked = 70 no. hrs sleep (8/day)= 56 no. hrs travel (1/day) = 7 no. hrs active social life (2 days 6 hrs) = 12 no. hrs home with no eve played (assume 1 hour/day for food, tv, music etc etc) = 7
no. hrs left for eve/week = 16
ie just over 2 hrs per day every week
and u made 60mil in ur 1st 5 weeks in eve?
now thats what i call power gaming?
