Ok, I know, I fail at scanning. I have been trying to find something on the test server and found a radar site somehow, I donĘt know how.
Is there anything to help a noob to scanning learn to use the new probe system? I see that some people are able to find things in a matter of minutes. I know I will not be able to do this over night, but some help so I can practice.
Links to videos or whatever to help please.
Thank you for the help! Zhenga

There is a dev blog that might help here. This describes the scanning a bit. No videos however, though there are pretty pictures. _

Hmm scanning videos are going to come, as its a very visual process.
If you understand the process of triangulation, this will be completely intuitive to you. If you only "think" you understand the process of triangulation, you are going to have to just get up that hill by trial and error.
Effectively, you just start off with large blobs all over the system (with some overlap) and start to move them towards the red signatures, steadily reducing the size of the overlapping probes *around* it not necessarily on top of it.
I could locate cosmic anomalies at around 4au, exploration sites at around 2au.
I needed to get right down to 0.25au size to locate a wormhole.
Took me a while to locate a wormhole, but it was worth the effort. Worm holes can be found in high sec as well as low and null sec, so the time taken learning to probe doesn't cause any pain.
boom .. drama bomb was a direct hit, expect GoonSwarm posts on CAOD any second! |
