Originally by: Maxine Morales Do you recommend patching the existing client or download the new client afresh? Or is there no difference?
The real difference is in download time. It's much easier and quicker to simply do the patches (there's a big one that's available now, and one or two that will occur when we open TQ).

Originally by: JackofHearts is there a eve classic patch? or eve lite to download for older computers to run eve?
We have discontinued EVE Classic. The download will automatically update your client to the Premium client. Please see CCP Zulupark's blog for more information.

was this error from the patcher or are you attempting a manual download?

Originally by: fuze Just wondered why the full download is 84063 and the patch 84244. Or will the full download be updated later on?
From our news:
Quote: Due to the new patching mechanic, build numbers and patching functionality may show previously unexpected build numbers and behaviour. This means there will be one large patch and additional patches, however, you may need to download more than one patch to get to the final build in order to connect to Tranquility. If this happens, don't panic. It is expected behaviour.
Patching from the old Classic client will claim to download a patch and install it. An installer will start and you have to accept the EULA before patching commences. The install will happen on a plain background which is not displaying any patch notes. This is expected behaviour.
Patching is now available for Windows. The patch for the Mac client will be available shortly after 12.00

Originally by: Kenucha Recieve the error from the auto patcher and when i try to manually download i recieve... "ccp.vo.llnwd.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again."
It's possible that the problem is a DNS resolution error. Can you open up a command window and type "ping ccp.vo.llnwd.net"? It could be a problem on your ISPs side. This will rule it out.

nope. premium client is your only option now.
Just to clarify... you do download the premium client, but premium lite is part of the same package. Makes it easier to toggle between the two :)

Originally by: particle9 FYI: Steam install (if it matters) gave a incomplete/corrupt install after patching. I ignored it and opened Eve just fine, was prompted to patch to 84244, got same error, ignored it and everything is fine. If the installer says things didn't work out try just opening Eve before you start downloading the entire installer fresh.
did you manage to snag the error message? Have any other steam users have issues?

Originally by: Makerson My Client refuses to auto patch. Status: Incompatible (Version). Logging in brings up a dialog box with the same text.
I did have it running earlier when I saw the version change (and it had the red build number) but I clicked 'no' to patching at that time.
Can I manually patch to 83913 and go from there?
which client? Mac or Windows?

patch like you normally would. You will download the client and have the option to switch from Premium to Lite.

Originally by: particle9 I should have noted the Steam error but didn't. It was something about the files not matching and provided a link to download the full installer instructing me to reinstall Eve. Steam always screws up with the three directX files and netutil on patches but this time that wasn't an issue, the installer simply said it had failed, click finish. I said to myself "forget that" and just tried opening Eve and it worked. It then offered the 16mb update which also gave the same error. Again I ignored it and everything is fine.
ah, so you only got the error when you tried opening with steam? We had that issue last time. That's good to know. Thanks :)

They use it for hosting patches and so forth- high bandwidth distribution servers on Limelight.
You may be correct Mr. Lins, I am downoading the patch now and I have a TCP to cdn-68-142-79-69.lax.llnw.net. So I assume they are using limelight, hey CCP are you?
BTW have you installed and re-booted yet? (I'm serious)
Every patch I have DL'd for EVE has come from http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net, FYI. Take off the tinfoil and quit trying to throw misinformation around. That link is absolutely legit.
Yes, we are using Limelight and have for a while now.

The problem with those links?
Those are executable AUTO-DOWNLOADERS. NOT the actual patches!
if you don't have BITS support (Wine users, XP users that haven't loaded BITS support) those patchers WILL NOT WORK and will error out with "Error 2".
Does anyone have a link to the FULL PATCHES?
Alternatively, get the full client.

Originally by: Elijah Ghost Right, so I've uninstalled, and i'm now re-downloading the 75883 premium graphic build. Once thats finished and I get it installed, if the auto-patcher doesn't run, any ideas? I've been asking this many a time and no god damn answers.
PLEASE do not just link me, give me full explanations if possible, and no technical abbreviations, I am somewhat tech-speak illiterate.
On the upside.. I'm still extatic about wormholes =P
OH NOEZ BOOTSTRAPPER ASPLODE!
If you're getting the full 75883, you're getting yesterdays TQ. Get the full installer for the current TQ, 84224

That doesn't exist on the website.. I can't find it anywhere, so in this case, a link would be awesome.

Originally by: aevistyne Hey soundwave, good to see some ccp responses back in the thread again, any chance you can confirm whether 84224 is the final build that will be required to log into tq when it comes back up? or is there still another smaller patch to come when the server goes online?
We will be opening on 84224, yes :)

Like, this is the full install of the game which can get me in game if dl'ed and successfully installed or is it just a patch?

Originally by: Mouthy Misses Right ok dont know if this will help anyone but i finally got it sorted, i tried to auto patch but failed, downloaded new client which CRC failed. deleted all my eve cache etc (backup settings if u need them) restarted PC then i used the auto patcher a second time, which worked, then asked me to install a 13mb patch, now i can run eve and it says not accepting connections (instead of incompatable)
funily enough tho my mate on win7 only had one patch to install (the big one) assume vista might apply too
hope this might help some of you guys having problems
Not accepting connections means we haven't opened TQ yet

You have 18 minutes.
Ps, updated from premium client with no probs, fast download, on xp SP3. Great work guys! Sorry to all the guys having problems... let them get sorted before you REALLY get mad though. Bare in mind you only got the patch early to try and help, you wouldn't normally have it yet anyway.
We're early then :)
