Originally by: Maxine Morales Do you recommend patching the existing client or download the new client afresh? Or is there no difference?
The real difference is in download time. It's much easier and quicker to simply do the patches (there's a big one that's available now, and one or two that will occur when we open TQ).

Originally by: JackofHearts is there a eve classic patch? or eve lite to download for older computers to run eve?
We have discontinued EVE Classic. The download will automatically update your client to the Premium client. Please see CCP Zulupark's blog for more information.

was this error from the patcher or are you attempting a manual download?

Originally by: fuze Just wondered why the full download is 84063 and the patch 84244. Or will the full download be updated later on?
From our news:
Quote: Due to the new patching mechanic, build numbers and patching functionality may show previously unexpected build numbers and behaviour. This means there will be one large patch and additional patches, however, you may need to download more than one patch to get to the final build in order to connect to Tranquility. If this happens, don't panic. It is expected behaviour.
Patching from the old Classic client will claim to download a patch and install it. An installer will start and you have to accept the EULA before patching commences. The install will happen on a plain background which is not displaying any patch notes. This is expected behaviour.
Patching is now available for Windows. The patch for the Mac client will be available shortly after 12.00

Originally by: Kenucha Recieve the error from the auto patcher and when i try to manually download i recieve... "ccp.vo.llnwd.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again."
It's possible that the problem is a DNS resolution error. Can you open up a command window and type "ping ccp.vo.llnwd.net"? It could be a problem on your ISPs side. This will rule it out.

nope. premium client is your only option now.
Just to clarify... you do download the premium client, but premium lite is part of the same package. Makes it easier to toggle between the two :)

Originally by: particle9 FYI: Steam install (if it matters) gave a incomplete/corrupt install after patching. I ignored it and opened Eve just fine, was prompted to patch to 84244, got same error, ignored it and everything is fine. If the installer says things didn't work out try just opening Eve before you start downloading the entire installer fresh.
did you manage to snag the error message? Have any other steam users have issues?

Originally by: Makerson My Client refuses to auto patch. Status: Incompatible (Version). Logging in brings up a dialog box with the same text.
I did have it running earlier when I saw the version change (and it had the red build number) but I clicked 'no' to patching at that time.
Can I manually patch to 83913 and go from there?
which client? Mac or Windows?

patch like you normally would. You will download the client and have the option to switch from Premium to Lite.

Originally by: particle9 I should have noted the Steam error but didn't. It was something about the files not matching and provided a link to download the full installer instructing me to reinstall Eve. Steam always screws up with the three directX files and netutil on patches but this time that wasn't an issue, the installer simply said it had failed, click finish. I said to myself "forget that" and just tried opening Eve and it worked. It then offered the 16mb update which also gave the same error. Again I ignored it and everything is fine.
ah, so you only got the error when you tried opening with steam? We had that issue last time. That's good to know. Thanks :)
