damn after writing this i checked for the patch and it was ready to download.
I think it was a trick though since it doesn't work. oh well I'll go to bed and be back later and try it then
oh well first in this thread I am a Noob, if what is written above sounds noobish then you can't expect much, if what is written above isn't noobish its just a figment of your imagination |

Hello guys, I tried to update my (classic) client via the automatic process, but I got the error message ("There was a temporary error downloading the required files"). Downloading the full client now (~320KBps but I think I'm limited by my provider) and will try a clean install afterwards.
Will this reinstall make me lose any settings (overview or something like that)? If it will, is there any way to save the settings from one client to the other?
Thank you and good luck patching.

Uninstall the old client and it will ask you if you want to save all your settings then install the new one.

You have to download the Quantum Rise Classic to Premium patch first then patch that to Apocrypha, but you might as well just download the client installer if they have it up. --- O.P. is made of fail c/d.

Edited by: Joss Sparq on 10/03/2009 11:31:05 I've just started downloading via automatic patch to my location in Australia. Download speed is hovering around 1 and 1.25, giving me a time estimate of around fifteen to twenty minutes max for the big patch. I'm on ADSL+2 and usually have an average connection speed of 13, with Steam games downloading at about 1.5 so I really can't complain at all.
EDIT: Sorry, I thought I was posting this in Download feedback instead.

My current version is 75883. When I log in expecting to get the auto-update screen, all I get is a message stating: "Incompatible (Version)"
When I go to the manual patch page, it doesn't list version 75883 as the latest version, but instead lists 72263 as the latest but tells me I have 75883 installed. Am I already updated? What's going on here?

im not 100% certain what files i used and what i did but the part immediately below this happened. im re-downloading all the files and will try again. <ignore this> it unpacked fine, but i got an error near the end of the install. i tried to auto-downloader and it cant connect to download the patch. </ignore this>

L2patch the patch you want is there. you want to tell it what version you have now.. which is indeed 75883. then it will give you the new patch.. heres a link if thats too complicated for you:

As predicted and as experienced by plenty of people who tried to join Sisi:
Your hopeless autopatcher declares that the 'installation is corrupt' and that I need to manually download the patch .. which turns out to be the fuking autopatcher all over again. Run this (ANOTHER 1.3gb) and it tells me to do a full manual installation as its the installation folder is corrupt. Go to the patch link provided and I get the fuking autopatcher **** again. So guess what thats going to tell me!
I said before that the autopatcher was w@nk and it is.
I look forward to downloading that patch sometime tomrrow so I dont get myself violating my 'fair usage' policy with my ISP. I dont think they'll be too amused at nearly 4gb in an hour.

My feedback is that CCP should provide more info on obtaining the full patch download (not through BITS)
This link http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch75883-84244_m.exe shouldnt have to be provided by users with know-how...
Why doesnt the website link get this file instead of the auto-patcher all over again. Im kind of with annoing on this one, without the aggro.

You know, I ran into this problem with the Sisi autopatcher, but I found that it was a bogus error. The patch installation actually worked perfectly, but I got that exact same error message.
I wouldn't fret over it right away, it could simply be a bug in the patcher application like it was with Sisi.

This is what I gathered:
Assuming you are patching from a premium client version 75883
1) The part 1 patch of 1389MB will bring the client to 83913. 2) The part 2 patch (which you can either get it via autoupdater or thru the website by selecting your client to be 83913) will bring you to 84244. 3) If you download the full client, it will only get you up to 84063 and therefore you need to download thru the autoupdater/website by selecting the client as 84063 to bring the client up to 84244.
Question: Why is the full client not already at 84244? Won't that actually be simpler to download? I was initially confused with the differing numbers between the patch and the full client and I was under the impression that the full client download was buggy or something.

I just got the second 13mb autopatch down the line and installed without any trouble. Running Windows Vista Premium (32 bit) and everything went quite smoothly indeed.
I just watched it tick down to server up, now waiting for "not accepting connections" to clear away.
Good luck, everyone!

Most likely a small patch was made, and it takes lots of time to build full installer packages as opposed to a small.

As we launch EVE Online: Apocrypha there is quite a bit to download and to get that done as smoothly as possible we will have two patches to get the full expansion. The first patch will be made available at approximately 09:30 GMT on 10 March via the auto-patching system, and itÆs a big one at about 1.35 GB. The Mac client will have one patch as it didnÆt have premium content, this patch will be 2.17 GB. Once Tranquility opens we will have a second, much smaller, patch which will give your client the final version and get you ready to find those wormholes!

Edited by: Riechao Tsu on 10/03/2009 12:11:31 Not so much an issue, but an irritation: Download was fairly fast, install was successful, but upon starting the client, I found the language to be in Japanese. It would be nice to be able to change this in the client options or an .ini file since I'm not a native speaker.
**edit: After updating with the 13mb second patch, it went back to English.

I had same problem from US also, in Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Flock browsers. I wanted to rule out it being a cookie issue in my browser so I tried different ones. Didn't matter, all showed the same thing.
EDIT: I'm talking about the download page problem, not the classic to premium patcher issue others are having.

If yo are having problems with slow download speeds, it may not be on ccp side. Don't forget you have to go through multiple servers to get to them. You may have a loss between your home and CCP. I was lucky this morning and downloaded full patch in 8.3 mins. But not always the case, at times i get a 30% in route to ccp server :( Good luck with todays patch all

The names are the same 83913, but is it the same release as was adopted previously on SISI?

I have the last patched Premium classic version of EVE for Windows XP, and tried to autopatch to the new version, using the autopatch mechanism from the current client. The autopatch died, with the message "Failed to initialize, Error Code 3", giving me a link to the full autopatch installer. When I downloaded THAT link (WHICH CONTAINED NO STUPID VERSION SELECTION OPTIONS), I received exactly the same error.
I'm currently downloading the full "m" executable and will try again once it's complete. In the interim, I resent reading snide comments from someone, pointing to some page that the standard patching mechanism doesn't reference and implying the rest of us are a bunch of idiots for not listening to him.

The patch seems to have been applied smoothly, although I think the actual patcher could do with a bit of loving. The window doesn't always refresh properly, and it sometimes does lengthy tasks without feedback, like checking files.
These issues can give the impression that the patcher is hanging.

This way i can download and store the patch for all my machines, or re-apply it when it screws up.

Yes, CCP *IS* stupid enough to forcesave the autopatches to a hardcoded directory. If you're getting an unexplained error, check to see if you have enough space for the whole thing. Also, go in there periodically and delete the old patches. It's one way to clear up HDD space in a hurry. ---- zzzz ... zzzz ... zzzz |

I assumed I was dloading a fix but after 2hours of dloading I canceled the download. Then I started eve again and the autopatcher dload a tiny fix/patch. And now everything seems to be working.
So I wonder what directory is the patcher downloading to, so I can remove the excess files.

So, what should i do if im not getting asked? And yes, it shows my build is incompatible.
Get the manual patch ? (try rebooting client and trying again first)

Edited by: Absalom Marathon on 10/03/2009 14:20:00 I don't have anything constructive to say. Just wanna give one of these <3 in the stressfull moments of patching. Great job dudes! Also give the music-dude a hug from me. This intro-song plying in the BG while I look at the Apocrypha intro screen is freaking epic, E P I C. I might even start playing eve w sound enabled again

Edited by: Megat Rader on 10/03/2009 14:22:44 Auto downloaded and installed the 1.4GB patch without problems. Started EVE up again expecting to get the second smaller patch, but all I get is an "incompatible build" error. No option to download the new patch :S
The first patch went OK as the login screen is Apocrypha (version 6.10.83913) but.. ideally I want to be able to play when the servers come back up. Anyone know how to force it to update using the second patch?

Same thing happened to me, i just tried to guess the patch file name to get it manually and it worked. In case you have the same version i did - heres the link : http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch84063-84244.exe
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link but it says I have the wrong version... (83913 instead of 84063) Looks like the other patcher buggered up with just the version number somehow?! Should I try faking it in the common.ini file?
Edit: Thank you Hacra! A veritable treasure trove of links . Found the one that worked for me. See you all on the server later :) edit2: should I have done anything with that RTP file? I ran the exe file and it patched without problems. No issue on the login screen either (apart from not accepting connections)

Completely smooth download and installation, solid 270 KiB/s the whole way through.
I can now see the tranq server, and it's currently not accepting connections.
Smooth patching the whole way

I have the Classic client and want to know why it's not patching into the new EvE Lite graphics content, seems I have to upgrade to premium? But I don't want that because I think this computer is a bit too weak for it. (It can run... just not very well)

Desktop downloads without problem in just over an hour, but all three downloads so far fail to install. Temporary error every time.
If I start from the /download page the error happens about 7% in on the installer.
If I download the full 1,95MB I get an error when the green bar is close to completion.
I already removed the old classic client from both machines, anyone else having trouble of this kind?

Would it be best to uninstall the old client first, as I have a error down loading the patch at 750 or so MB.It is slow but not unusual for my connection. I started it agin but now reading some of the thread, I'm wondering if I should just start from scratch. Is the new Premium Lite available for full download now? I have only 1 gig of ram thinking this is my best option. Thanks
