WEll, after the patch, everything looks great, specially the asteroids up close. Problem is, zoom out thoughm and it all goes to hell. FLickering texture edges all over the place. Same thing with the ship whilst in combat. Anyone else experiance similar issues?

I have the flickering textures also. I have used different settings with HDR and bloom, but still have the issues. I also can't get AA to work at all. I used nHancer to get HDR+AA to work before the new client. It doesn't work at all now. If anybody can get it to work again I would love to hear about it. I have 9800gtx+ and use vista x64.

I too am using an ATI X1600 card and when I first show up in station, I have very bad flickering on everything. I've played with the settings and turned everything down to low and still no go.
I was previously using the classic client with no issues.
Anyone have any work around or fixes yet?

recreate the nhancer profile.
If you have no luck with that (I also use the exact same card as you) you can delete you nhancer profile completely and use the nvidia control panel to enable AA etc, but inside EVE you have to uncheck HDR and only run bloom.
HDR without a working nhancer profile will kill Anti-aliasing.

I thought my vid card had crapped out.
Setting shader quality to low seems to fix the problem...but you are left with less quality.
Submitting bug report.

Pretty much same situation as me :(
Even docked in station, half the ship flickers polygons at a time. Was running classic client before, running premium lite now. Played with the graphics settings, no luck.
The only thing that doesn't flicker is the menu on the left and the station services on the right. Oh, also any character/wallet/whatever windows I bring up, those are fine.
I've got a laptop, 2GB of RAM and an ATI Mobility x700... As far as I can tell, people with different cards are experiencing this, any ideas for a work-around? |

I am also getting "flickering" graphics, especially space stations (interior or exterior views), my ship while in station, and my ship while in warp. The flickering appears to be textures flashing on and off; in stations, for example, the view alternates between black (with only light sources visible) and normal; my ship appears as polygons that cycle rapidly between blank and textured.
My graphics card is an ATI Radeon Mobility X1300 with 512MB HyperMemory, running on a notebook with 2GB RAM.
I've tried changing all kinds of EVE settings, in isolation and in combination--shadows, HDR, bloom, resource chache, shader quality, resource quality; those settings have been tried in various combinations of ATI's anti-aliasing, adaptive anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, and other settings--and the flickering remains steadfast through it all.
I am confident that someone in this community will be able to steer me right. I'd sure like to continue playing! I was experiencing no issues under the Classic Client.

Edited by: Veninsul on 11/03/2009 01:51:26 Sorry for my bad english.
I've find a solution for ATI graphic card:
Same workaround like Oblivion.exe
Copy your bin folder in \CCP\EVE\ to bin-hdr (for exemple) Copy Exefile.exe in CCP\EVE\bin-hdr to etqw.exe (quake wars ET) Create a shortcut on your desktop with:
Target "path\CCP\EVE\bin-HDR\etqw.exe" Start in "path\CCP\EVE\bin"
Save shortcut, launch it and appreciate.
Tested in Vista64 with ATI CrossfireX 4870x2, all ingame settins on the highest value, and settings in CCC: AA Edge-detect 24X, Aniso 16X, Catalyst AI advanced, Enable adaptive AA Quality.
Hope it help you

2 things:
1: What exactly did I just do? It ran a command promp console, then ran eve... What exactly was that?
2: As much as i hate to say this: IT DIDN'T WORK :'( :'( :'(
Anyone got any other ideas? Is there any way i can force EVE not to try to display the textures? I can deal with playing in wireframe mode or something, the flickering is really really disturbing tho...

ya maybe able to deal with it but we shouldn't have to.....we pay our subs like everyone else....can't ccp see that there seems to be an issue with ati graphics cards and try to find a solution?

I agree with you, but let's not get into the whole "They owe us for paying them! OMGWTF! I want my money back." It's immature and silly. If CCP is aware of the issue, I'm sure they'll try fix it. I just want to be able to play in the meantime.
Incidentally, I think a lot more people have this problem than have posted here.
PEOPLE, IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM, POST IN THIS THREAD!!!
I'm not convinced it's ALL ATI cards or that it's only ATI cards. As far as I've seen, ATI mobility cards seem to be the most problematic. Other cards display other symptoms. What cards are you people running? |

Guys, an update to my issue with an ATI X1600 (Mobility Radeon). I downloaded new Omega drivers from Omegadrivers, net and these fixed my problems. All flickering on ship and in station are now gone and this seem to be running very sweetly. If all else fails, try these new supped up drivers.

Downloading now. Toshiba decided that I wouldn't be able to use standard ATI drivers, so here's to hoping these work :P
Setting shader quality to low didn't work for me incidentally :(
GAH! I wanted to log in and look at the pretty things, then go back to work. Now this has chewed 3 hours of my day :(
I will keep you guys posted if these omega drivers work.

It WORKED!!! i can see my ship!!! It's so pretty!!! All settings work, played with higer shader settings but i decided not to use them, low frame rates and it looks crappy with my card.

OK, I got this issue resolved for myself. Based on the customary "make sure you have the latest drivers," I of course bang my head against the wall because Toshiba hasn't updated their drivers for the ATI Radeon Mobility X1300 in years. After some googling around, I came across the DH Mobility Modder at DriverHeaven.net.
Basically, they provide a utility that let me download the latest ATI driver for desktops, then modify that for use on my notebook. I had one glitch during the process (I don't think the control center got installed), but when I fired up EVE my problems were gone.
Thanks again Toshiba!

I supplied a bug report during SiSi testing. This was my reply:
Asteroids (and some other models) have white pixels over their models where edges intersect.
// Thank you for your bug report. Please keep in mind, that anti aliasing is not supported by EVE Online. There is no option in EVE Online to turn AA on. Turing it on in the driver is not supported and is known to cause issues. See http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=686575&page=5#149 - BH Sarahani --- Have a rawr on me. |

Then I could have a reasonalbe question - why do we need all of this "trinity" graphics, if client still doesn't support AA? Why does CCP spend a huge resources to develop this new graphics, if we can't see them in all beauty of AA?

So the EVE developers use absolutely no AA when developing the graphics for this game?
I find that hard to beleive.
Ironically, my AA worked just fine prior to this patch.

No third party drivers needed in this case.

Edited by: Avaleric on 11/03/2009 17:19:04 Fun thing is, EVE is just about the ONLY game that has problems with AA. I've used it on every game I've played since the days of the Voodoo 5. When the Premium client was first released, it took an ATI driver update or two before the game stopped crashing. Maybe we'll just have to be patient, and post bug reports to ATI. Again, the 'not supportet' message from CCP I have no respect for. You 'force' AA with the GPU drivers for most titles, always have. Methinks it's pretty lame that EVE, in 2009, can't handle it. Eve is a game with a lot of texture edge float, lots of high-contrasting lines. AA is very much needed. If you is used to AA, playing without is not an option.
Final note to poster here: Problem is not getting AA activated. It is that it looks borked after the update.

Update: Tested latest ATI Omega drivers, didn't fix the problem, albeit made it a bit better. I'm going back to latest of official drivers, as the Omega is based on an old version, 7.2. My card is HD 3850 by the way...
