I'm trying to remake my lvl 3 mission ship into something that can reasonably investigate WH space. Perhaps even hunt sleepers at their less powerful sites. I'm not use to pvp style setups, so feel free to point out any errors here.
Hi:
6 MP II's with Scorch 1 Salvager 1 Core Probe Launcher
Mid:
1 Optical Tracking Computer (No script) 3 CR II's
Low:
1 MAR II 1 DC II 3 EAMN II's 1 HS II
Rigs:
1 Locus 1 Aux Nano Pump 1 CCC
Drones:
Currently 5 Vespa II's Considering changing that for the explosive type drone. Sleepers have no shields right? So explosive seems a good place to go for the armour hole. (Yeah I know it's a small hole, but it's there at least on standard pod pilot ships.)
Skipped the script because range script only gave me one more km. While tracking script would have cost me a piece of my not outstanding optimal.

Drop an EANM for plates. Drop the tacking comp for a MWD. Carry 4 light drones and 3 mediums. Get your drone navigation up high, Sleepers like to eat drones from what I hear. Might want to go T1 or faction crystals, if you do stick with the exhaustables, carry a lot of them. Oh, and don't fly with anything expensive in your head. Pods can't launch probes, so you might need to SD to get back if your Harb gets nuked. Which it probably will. --- SWA was here IAC is a loser |

Edited by: Madcat Adams on 11/03/2009 04:07:54 I only went exaustables because of the range/damadge capabilities. Should I perhaps switch back to beams? Otherwise it's going to turn into a hugathon trying to hit things... I'd rather try to vape frigies before their point blank on top of me. =D
*updated desighn from the suggestions.*

DO NOT ENTER A WORM HOLE SOLO!!! So far everyone who has tried has died horribly. Make sure you go with a bunch of friends. Sleepers RR each other and like to primary drones. Think of a sleeper fleet as a player fleet. Would you take your Harbi up against a fleet of 10 players with cruisers, frigs, BCs and even a couple BSes?

The fit though looks good if you take the advice of the above post. Mandatory Warp Drive and 3 med 4 light drones. Keep a set of T1 crystals in case you're there longer than you expect. Try for a 1600 plate or 2x800.

any t1 BC will be insta dead to even the easy sleeper spawns. norma t2 fit bs whit good skills.... should be ok whit easy spawns.
i managed to take a 3x bs + 5 cruiser spawn whit 2 apocs and a domi.
both apocs had 2 remote reppers and domi had 4. + all ships had 1 normal repper also.
used apocs for range whit mega pulses and domi for it ability to have more RR in high slot + good drone damage.
only lost 2 ogres and few hammers and goblins to the rats. ---------------------------------- Fighting for something Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

Sorry, typo on my part. Heavy Pulse II's. Alright, I'll switch it out for micro, but that's really gonna bork my capacitor. Guess the mission runner in me gets nervous at that. Exactly why I needed advice for a more pvp style sleeper setup.
I'll see if some backup can't be dragged along. First gonna find the things. Probing is annoying..

I have not died yet and have been in WHs solo and in a 2man gang both with harbengers almost the same setup but using beams instead the cruisers like to sit out at 50k and shoot but the frigs come in really close and fast. I use AB IIs and a web (which helps slow the frigs down) I havn't died yet. I have even cleared all the small scanned places with frigs and cruisers in them in a WH.. The only problem I have is taking out the ones with sentry guns in the... they hit hard and have a very long range... I can only stay in long enough to take out maybe 2 frigs befor the BS comes in range and I have trouble tanking the senties. again I have not died or even had my armor go past 50%.... Number one thing to remember is don't go in at 0... I got in at 100k even time... just to be safe.
The one saying that you will die a horrible death either doesn't have the skill or is just kidding and like commenting useless info. It is possible to walk out alive not empty handed and it is very possible to die a quick death if you make a wrong move... the NPCs still target slow and witht he exception of the sentry guns have ranges and can be safely observed from afar and even killed fairly easy.
Make sure you add the drones frigs, cruisers, and BSs to your overview, along with the uncharted planets. Warp in at 100k every time, and as soon as you come out of warp align to a planet, know you limits and don't risk staying in to take out a target.

Completely not true. Survived and trashed 2 perimiter encounters and never went below 50% shileds. Did not have to warp out, though I did loot some while my shields recharged and I had no aggro (followup spawns did not always auto aggro and I didin't charge in immediately either).
Ok that the good news, the bad news I was in a T2 fitted drake with a buffer/resist tank (22k shields with minumum 66% resists) and near max skills and missile range of 70+km.
I've also flown a Harb and I love it, great ship. But I'd be really worrked about the range. With a Missile drake with an AB I can influence the range (Fgs catch me easy, but the cruisers lagged behind and the BS (total 3 in 2 encounters, never more than one aggroed at a time) never got closer than I wanted. So I could do a parial engagement, pick off the fgs then deal with the cruisers, of course the wrecks are strewn over may kms of space.
With a pulse harb you may be forced to bet the ship on every single spawn, and you'll loose some. Fgs or cruisers also NOSed, though it seemed light, if your damage and tank depends on it, it will be bad news. With full out T2 weapons and ammo you can do more damage, which could save you and for once the limited damage type doesn't matter (sleepers omni tank).
The sleeper sentries hit for significant (~100) damage out to 80 or 90k and the BS for up to 400 out to at least 50k, but don't have the fastest ROF in the galaxy. As much as I love the Harb (is it still gleaming gold in this update?) it will be very exciting to fly one solo vs sleepers.

Yep, I've solo'ed a couple Sleeper encounters at the shallow end of the pool. The key is that you simply cannot treat Sleepers like other NPC's. You have to find a way to separate them and deal with them (as much as possible) one at a time.
If you think you might be getting overwhelmed . . . you are. Get out - if you can.
Unless you are prepared to micro manage drones, I wouldn't take Tech 2's out. Honestly, take Tech 1's out until you get a better handle on the Sleeper encounters. Once you get a feel for it, Tech 2's work fine.
