I just installed the patch, it looks flashy however I can not use it from my laptop anymore. Is there lighter edition without so many graphical details(which i do not favor too much anyway) which could be run on slower PCs?

To answer the question.. There is no Premium lite client. There is only one client, which acts both as "lite" and "full"

The whole deal does sound quite confusing - here's an simple explaination:
There's an graphics option in-game named "shader", setting it on low will cause your computer to use shader 2.0 or basicly "premium lite". Setting it to medium or high will make it run as premium normally ran before.
If you can't run the game at all, you should be able to change it by editing the prefs.ini file located at
C:\Documents and Settings\@username@\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
