Edited by: Chryzopraz on 11/03/2009 09:00:50 Hi all!
I am lost in space. Literally! It all started innocent. A corpmate scanned a wormhole. We entered it with 4 or 5 ships. It was so empty inside! At least it seemed so. After a while our scanner guy found a group of ships. We found another group fighting Sleepers. We helped them a bit and warped out. Then we found a small mining site. Nothing special, a few asteroids with veldspar, scordite, pyroxeres and plagioclase. Some of our corpmates left the system to repair their ships. Only I and our scanner guy left to try to find other wormholes or whatever might be there hidden from us. After a while we decided to go back. And then things started to get ugly. The wormhole connecting us to the known universe disappeared! We stumbled upon a few ships from the other party hanging in space. They didn't have a scanner with them. So we had only one guy with scanner probes to find any exit. And then we did a terrible mistake. We parted, I made a fleet with people in the second group while our scanner was searching for another wormhole. And then the Sleepers found him and destroyed before we could help him. Our only hope for return! Someone was desperate enough to commit a suicide to get back to known space. But there are still 3 or 4 of us hanging in the unknown space with the diminishing hope of finding some help.
And this is the situation now. We are stuck in the system J141451. So if anyone reading this happen to enter that system, please let me know by ingame mail if you could help us get out and show the exit wormhole. I am willing to pay for that. In ISK or some stuff got from dead Sleepers. Or even with my ship (just a Ferox).
Regards all
Chryzopraz
PS.
Lesson learned: never ever leave your guy with probes alone in unknown space. The Sleepers can find him and attack anywhere, anytime, leaving you without the way out to the known space.
Edit: Corrected system name

I think CCP should start a new Forum Channel for people stuck in w-space asking for help. It will become quite popular

Edited by: Tuttomenui II on 11/03/2009 09:11:37 I know I am ROFL. Quick question... How much would you say your clone is worth? what kind of implants and what grade clone?
I think a lot of people might go to fitting a probe launcher in a utility high on theyre fighting ships. hehehe.
Edit*
I took an orca into a wh on SISI after getting gang invite froma group of cap pilots and when I warped to them they were fighting 8 BS sleepers and like 12 Frig sleepers. I tried to tractor a player wreck and the sleepers did not like that at all, they all switched to me and they killed me like i was in a damn cruiser. And I had a probe launcher on the orca, a helios in bay with probe launcher, and some spare probe laucnhers in cargo and some spare T1 frigs in bay. And 200mil worth of ammo and supplies at SISI prices of 100isk in my cargo. hehehe.

lol xD Had a few corpmates last night with the same problem, they went ahead through without the guy with the probes (and they're all still arguing whose fault it is) and when he returned to the wormhole it had closed, leaving them in closed off space without any chance of probing a new way out ^_^

The plus side is, now - Probe Launchers are SO damned easy to sneak into a fitting... you should probably put one on the ship you take just incase.
Probes take up little space too, and the launcher holds a LOT of probes.
Scanning is easier too and not really based on time - so load up your Probe Launchers!
Lesson learnt for you. Hoho.

Last night I had to find a way out for a small miltia fleet that was in the same W-space system as me when the wormhole stopped accepting larger ships. There were a couple of other probers at it too, I get the impression that some W-space systems only have one wormhole, obviously going to ordinary space, and you have to wait for it to collapse to get out if it is too decayed for your ship size.
If you are stuck and want to get out, I'd recommend pinging in local too, since no-one passing by will know you are there otherwise. -

Or, gang you, promise a nice way out, and drop you into the biggest bunch of sleepers I could find.

Thats how its meant to be, core probe launcher fits on basically any ship, its like a salvager. And core probes take only 0.1 m3 room each and are reusable. Seriously, put that launcher in there if you got the skills.
I had a funny experience too last night... I found a wormhole in my covops, formed an alliance fleet, then I luckily had the smarts to enter first in my prober ship. A fellow drake followed..and then the wormhole collapsed. Drakepilot didnt have a scanner... he was all "save me!" hehe. Took me like half hour to probe the exit wormhole which we used to get the rest of fleet in there, this time with more people fitting probe launchers, hehe. Had fun clearing few sites in there.
Overall I really really like the wormhole idea and this expansion. It takes time getting used to the new probing system and I hate the pos shield graphics but overall its a great expansion.

As a carebear I think this is brilliant.
You could go in a wormhole and meet another group already fighting Sleepers, and as it's 0.0 everyone is fair game. Or you could go in there and fight some Sleepers yourself, and pirates come in and gatecrash. Or, you could go in there and be unable to get back out - having to rely on the good-naturedness of others to save you.
WH seems close to what low-sec should've been - dangerous space but with rewards to make it worth going there. It sounds scary, but I'm very interested in trying it.

Strange thing really... I have always had wet dreams about playing a game where you could get completely lost in the huge huge universe. Just like Star trek voyager. Or maybe Battlestar Galactica? So instead of starting from a starting point mapping the world outwards, you instead have to stat maping from the unknown, in search for home!
It might seems strange, but there is certain excitement in getting lost! So your next mission will not be to kill the boss, or mining or anything. It will be to find home!
hey! There is a certain beauty in it really! And think how you will feel when you at last find home!?
Yep.. The new wormhole systems seems to be my thing really!

You just don't get it, do you ? It's dangerous, it was not build for you to pwn everything in there easily, got home a be rich.
If you got stuck, it's your fault, everybody can fit a core probe launcher, ofcourse you can end up on the other side of the universe, but that feeling of randomness simply ROCKS. Got 5 neutrals in a local asking "Can you please tell us, WHERE THE ARE WE ?". Priceless.

yeah ok if you know eachother locally from highsec then you've got my absolution. However you guys from highsec are effectively entering 0.0. But not just that - any alien corp ship mass is automatically a threat to you. you can kill them, can profit from killing them and should kill them for your own safety. In other words them moving thru wormhole is a threat to you.
Ok, just wait and you will see what happens 4 weeks down the line in wspace.

CCP:
I just wanted to thank CCP for actually doing something right within eve and making w-space.
Maximum Yarrage have racked up so many kills i cba to count them, so ty for delivering these noobs and ballsy nighthawk pilots right into our bubbles :)
NOTE: i take this all back if you ever nerf Amarr, you will then suck more a very sucky thing.

Originally by: Letava It's so tempting to plate up a BS and jump back and forth through a wormhole until it collapses on the people inside. I'm still stuck on how to make sure I'm on the right side when it does, though.
Did that with a freighter last nite. :)
Obelisk is 940 million kg mass and other then me a Hulk went trough it twice and a covops. Total 2 million kg mass and then it collapsed. The info message on my side was still oke, but later I heard that after my first jump it started to pulse real fast and shrink it's size. If I had knew that I would not have jumped back
Yeah I know, freighter but it went from hi-sec to 1 jump from Jita so I though what the heck, it saves 22 jumps (had a Scorpion + Rokh + a +4 set of implants totaling 2 billion :D)
Keep them coming; more lost-in-wh-space stories! |
