not worth 1200 euro, buy from another company. Since you're looking for a mid/high end build, the GPU should be either a GTX260 or a Radeon 4850/4870. Both of those perform much better than a 9800gt and have a very low cost due to recent price wars.
If you get a Phenom, make SURE it's a Phenom II. The Phenom I processor was generally a failure, but the Phenom II is comparable to intel 65nm quads. Expect a lot of "get intel!" posts, and while I would urge you to do that, the Phenom II is actually a fine chip.
But again, that isn't worth 1200 euros, not even close. As a general rule, price out the build on newegg/whatever site you use in your country, and don't pay more than a 30% premium just for the brand name and build costs.

Then get a local geek (not taking about Bestbuy here) to set it up for you, (they would usualy ask for around 30 EUR)... Still would be way cheaper then buying it from Alienware.

I bought a new dell a couple months ago.
I found a coupon for 20% off online can't remember where :(.
It is an Inspiron Desktop not the XPS.
The graphics card is only an HD 3450 but it seems to do fine with EVE Premium. I don't do a lot of fleet fighting though so not sure how it would do in that.
I did get a bit more RAM than you suggest above, mine has 6GB.
IF you can afford the XPS it might be worth it for better graphics card :).
I bought the new desktop cause I knew my old one could not really play after Apoc was released. The graphics look very nice on my machine.
I was in a budget though and I would have spent more if I could have and gotten a better system but this one is working good for me.
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

I rage every time someone wants to buy a PC now, especially something way overpriced like an Alienware.
If you can use a screw driver, and plug in plugs (that only fit into the right slots), then you can build a computer!

Couple of points. Buy the machine elsewhere you get it cheaper and also couple of suggestions which will make your EVE experience a lot better.
This Graphics Card sucks ****. Single Graphics Card - 512MB NVIDIA« GeForce« 9800 GT
Get your self an Radeon 4870hd which price/performance ratio is awesome. If you are an nvidia fan try 9800GTX or GT260/280.
AMD processors. Processor: AMD« PhenomÖ X4 9550 Quad Core 2.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache
Well ok this is a personal view, but I would take an Intel. Also EVE doesn't take advantage of multiple CPU cores. Its better to get a fast clocked 2 core processor than low clocked 4 core. In this case we are comparing 2.2GHz vs. 3+GHz.
I would get Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 or something similar. Or if you know you will need quad core. Then Intel iCore7. ---

2 Screens 1st - 1600 x 1200 / 2nd 1280x1024 I get on average 120 FPS in the active window & 90 FPS on the inactive window. Doesn't matter which one is active.
Computer Motherboard - ASUS M4A79 CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 2.8 GHz Power SUpply - 650 W (Corsair) RAM - 8 gig OCZ Reaper DDR2 Hard Drive - 2 Seagate Barracuda 7200 250 GB each Vista 64 bit ultimate of course QTY -2 Diamond VIper 3870's ( I have one monitor hooked up to each video card not using crossfire)
So it all depends on your budget but you don't have to break the bank to get good rates and you don't have to have the latest stuff either. Just make a good build and you should be fine.

My 3850 purrs like a kitten playing with 2 clients...sometimes it shoots to 170 FPS. Then again, it's at a crap resolution because for some reason all the widescreen modes disappeared ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

Cool, thanks for the link! CPU:Intel i7 920 @ 4.0 GHz Mobo:Gigabyte UD4 RAM:3GB Corsair XMS DDR3 Graphics Card:XFX HD4870X2 PSU:1000W Xclio Cooling for OC purposes: Ultra 120 + the HAF comes with huge fans on the intake, side, top and exhaust and this only cost me ú1350 (including ú50 to my local pc shop to build it for me). It runs EVE at 1680x1025 with AAx32 and AFx16 and everything else on full without a hiccup and with a 4.0GHz i7 (the fastest processor atm) your set for the next 4 years (and the extra PCIx16 slot allows you to add another 4870X2 for 4GB of crossfire goodness once prices drop when the new HD4900s come out next year).
TL;DR BUILD YOUR OWN FTW

Sorry to derail too much here. Looking closely at the case for sale on that site, I see there is no alien logo on it and the pain job looks like a flat black spray paint. I think it's a cheap rip-off of the alienware case .

Edited by: Korrakas on 12/03/2009 18:04:22 you can always just stick the little alien face on... the alienware case isint as impressive as it looks in pics, I have a friend who's considerably richer than me and decided to buy a pre-made alienware at the same time I made my rig, and tbh the alienware doesnt impress me at all compared to mine and others custom made rigs. + if your talking about rip-offs Alienware are the best at that, they mark up 30% just for the brand name. But still they are "gaming rigs" for rich kids they do their job..

Edited by: Tlaloc Camaxtli on 12/03/2009 18:05:58 You wont be able to buy an aliencase, the only way you would be able to get a genuine alienware is to buy an alienware PC or buy one off ebay.
FYI: http://www.cougar-extreme.co.uk/ = awesome custom site, awesomely cheap and the support you get is second to none.
DONT buy from alienware!! you can get more bang for your buck elseware.
personally id go for an AMD CPU and an Nvidia GPU.
PS: if your computer is going to be for gaming DONT waste your money on a quad core, get a dual core instead!

Dell bought Alienware a couple years ago. So buying an alienware is just buying an expensive Dell. Dont waste your money, build your own. If you cant figure it out have a local computer store build it for you.

Otherwise try the PC-Builder on the same site.
