If you care so damn much about macro miners, you are bad at the game. Everything else is frustrating to you, you can't stand mining perhaps, or you do it alot but see people doing it like machines. You think "oh god that's so unfair I work hard to do that" and think you are original in your desire to kill them. Sadly you are killing someone who is about one step above an NPC. In terms of danger, probably a step below them. Also, it's fun to kill them, but if that's all you are good at, then I think you will find EVE dull after ten macro kills. They will always be there, and it won't matter what CCP does, what you do, what they do. They found a niche in the market, and they will stay there. Play the damn game and find ways to have fun. Or keep whining about "fair" and "exploit" concepts that most pilots have stopped worrying about since it doesn't HURT anyone.

Originally by: Misanth ..and I want to do /facepalm You should take some basic economy class, especially learn what happened in games where farmers got certain item values down really low. I'll skip chapeter 1 to 337 and tell you the end; the game dies.
Ps. I don't care much for macros as such, but they are a major threat to all games. If you believe something else, you're a virgin in this environment or you fail to grasp why even simple hack'n'slash games hire respectable economists.
Except that in those games, the players wheren't the ones creating items at a cost and selling them. They are dropped loots and such. The only way for the EVE economy to drop out is if there's a sudden mass subscription loss of non-macro accounts. Your basic economy class would now tell you it's because of Very High Supply, but Very Low Demand. ---

FW raised prices, and I also suspect WH space will raise prices too. Anytime people are losing ships en masse prices go up. I'd like to see more market flux, prices everywhere should rise a little. Macros won't go into WH space, people will stop caring so much about them I hope, and they will just keep doing what they are doing.

If you're really bored just buy a stabber, speed fit it and ram the miners a good 15km off their ore. It'll shut off their lasers and might even mess up the macro if its a bad one.

Oh the horror.
It looks like you are missing another thing the Macro miners tend to do that isn't so good for the game, Thats selling the ISK they make from all their mining & if you think that doesn't hurt the game then you have no idea.
Most macro miners are using programs that as far as I understand are illegal to use ingame, they sell the mins/ore they get and more often than not then go onto selling the ISK, The sites that these people often sell the ISK through have been known to be used to steal peoples account info by installing trojan/virus/worms etc etc.
So yeah ships might be a little bit cheaper but all the negative things cancel that gain right out. So understand what you want and remember these people aren't ingame to be a part of the game, they are ingame to make them selves RL $$$ nothing more nothing less! I hope this is not the part of the EULA some of you are relying on in saying macros are against the EULA.

id pay more if it meant that the game got rid of this cancer...you sitting here actually defending this is absolutely appalling
I may not agree with macro miners since they're basically breaking the "law" and getting away scott free, but the melodrama of this post made me lol

If a computer program can manage a Hulk in such a way that it gather4s more ore per hour than a human could possibly gather in that same hour...
Then I think that qualifies as 'faster than normal play'.
As for possibly getting banned for "griefing a macro" :
1. If it's a macro he won't be there to notice. 2. If it's NOT a macro You'll AT LEAST get a reply along the lines of "Knock it off, *****!!!!" 3. Two wrongs may not make a right, but ignoring a problem is tantamount to contribution itself.
If I knew doing this would get THEM banned if I also were banned, you would see me crashing alts into known macros all over New Eden, and so long as they kept allowing it to continue they would never keep me from doing it.
Someone needs to grow some balls if they want to deal with this problem.

wrong. 99% of real miners are too chicken to say anything. we were messing up a miner corp which were total macro's for a week or so, then a corpie got an alt in their corp. Surprise, they were whining like little girls each time in corp chat. apparenlty whining in local however brings on more griefing. They were right :-)

I personally think if some people spent as much time doing something about macro miners in-game as they put into whining about them on the forums then Eve would be a better place, or at least the forums would have less crap subjects at least.

Macro miners defenders shouldn't forget that the macro mining shrinks possibilities for real miners and manufacturers. They just can't stand that competitions. Not every real player [want] does pew-pew only, without macro miners we'll get more interesting play roles.

So does that mean that macros that automate or otherwise take control of mundane repetitive functions but does not perform them beyond "ordinary Game play" are permitted

No you won't. Most miners in high sec won't say a word because if a griefer is attacking a player and they complain the griefer just does it more, or gets friends to come help them. My wife quit EVE because of people constantly doing that to her and accusing her of being an isk farmer because she was mining in a hulk in highsec for hours on end.
She put up with it for a while but in the end she quit EVE Because of it. She was only playing as a way to pass the time while home with the kids. Mining mostly AFK in a hulk was an easy way for her to pay for her ships/etc when she did have freetime. But she got so sick of being griefed by idiots who assume any hulk in highsec MUST be a macrominer.
I now use the account as a mission running alt so I can mission while doing PVP on my character. I'm still a bit bent with the 'it's a macro miner' mafia because it made my wife hate the game I love to play and now all I get when she sees me playing is 'why do you still play that horrible game?'. Once upon a time she liked it.

The real problem is that something as boring as something that a macro can do is supposed to be part of a game. This killed many internet games.

To be honest. I believe that the real ISK sellers are the ones controlling the wallets and hangers of the mega corps like the Goons and such. They generate billions upon billions not just from the having a massive corp but the dues payed by alliance corps and all the members within it as well as the corp tax and the monies generated from scamming and payments for ransoms, joining fee's , ECT. Not to mention that I am sure they also have their own macro fleet in 0.0 deep within their own protected territory.
The thing is greed rules the world in RL as it does in RPG's. When you have only a limited number of people able to check the books, it is very easy to skim monies and lander it. It happens every day in the real world. These people see the amount of ISK being generated it would not take long for them to relies that it can be turned into real world cash by setting up a website and selling the excess ISK they generate.
I bet if CCP could trace the isk being sold threw the website selling it they would probability find the head officers and CEO's of some of the mega corps making a killing.

If you can't kill a macro miner, stop him form doing what he can do in the first place, mining.
If you can trap him by making him bump into an asteroid and make him stuck, he's pretty much done for.
These are just some ideas. What are yours?
