Been there seen it done, account dept unable to bill, records unable to check last approved issue, seen many IT/support hiccups its not unknown, but if ccp want to offer a box set as a finished game then its fair to point out the shortcomings of the performance.

Not unknown in eve problems after patches and not out of place for people who are not fanbios to question how things were done, as we are bug testing the game now while paying for the privilege, no I wont quit over this and I very much hope things will get better.

But anyone buying and trying this game when the box set is out, will be in for a shock when with less than 20k online you have to que to log, then you can't jump because the gates are locked to traffic.

24hrs or 48hrs downtime for the patch may have been a better option but as we are bug testing perhaps ccp wouldn't want that. I have been working where deptments have been down for much longer while they update/upgrade.

There's bug testing and then there's stress testing. Due to EVE's unique server infrastructure and single "server" mentality, there's is a realistic limit to how many bugs can be found from beta testing on Sisi. No amount of testing on Sisi is going to uncover the issues derived from the stress loading of 40k-50k players online at the same time.

Because of the uniqueness of Tranquility's design and hardware, CCP has neither the technology nor resources to simulate the loads of 40k players on a test bed identical to Tranquility. Single shard developers and their customers are going to have to accept the fact that involving customers in the testing and debugging process is part of the development process of the game as it expands and updates. This is much more of a business model and gaming culture issue than it is a development and testing issue.

This is a problem unlike any other MMO out there. CCP is definitly paving the way in terms of business model, testing, deployment, and sustainment.

From a business stand point, CCP really should have delayed the release of the retail box until a week or 2 after the patch rolled out. That way most of the major bugs would have been stamped out and the server stablized before the retail boxes went live.
