ok, apocrypha is awesome. wormholes, new effects. great. now it's time to get working on planets!
let us enter the atmospheres and dogfight there. let us put up defensive satellites, more stations and fight for them. include this content in missions. lets bring pvp to planets! as awesome as eve pvp is, duking it out on gates and occasionally in belts is...well, you know.
WiS is a great immersion thing, and im sure u got a team workin on that. if you havent done this already, get a huge team workin on planets!

The next step? Involving player avatars in a face to face environment with Walking in Stations, also known as 'Ambulation'.
The step AFTER that?
PlanetSide, with fighters and tanks and ground targets, etc.
I think Ambulation is going to point out something peculiarly difficult to EvE, though. EvE has a LOT of space compared to most games. More locations than you could wrap your mind around, to be honest. One way classic ground games guarantee combat and player-on-player interaction, is through the use limited space.
Yep. Believe it or not, MORE worlds and more zones is actually a BAD thing for classic MMO's, because if you spread the playerbase out too far, they start complaining and/or quitting due to being 'lonely'. No ****, this ain't a joke.
EvE, with thousands of stations spread across thousands of systems? Lots of players are going to find that they will all be associating with each other in a couple key systems ... ala trade hubs of today. A couple stations will be incredibly packed, and the rest? Empty and lonely.
Any ground game you introduce that is driven specifically by players, will face the same issues. A couple key planets will have all the interactions, and the rest will be barran locations with no use.
That said, I'd still LOVE to see a system that combines the great interactions of PlanetSide (which only had how many worlds?), with the more modern interface and unique space-zone qualities of a game like Mass Effect.
It's just how are they going to manage it, so that it appeals not only to the casual warfighters (making faction warfare planets would be a simple and easy workaround for the 'emptiness' feeling), but also to dedicated industrialists (dropping a mining track machine ala Mass Effect to search out and grind into ore deposits), as well as nulsec sovereignty (the biggest hicup, but also the biggest driving factor, in the need for planetary interaction).
But yeah ... lets learn to walk, then we'll hope they pick up wheels and give me a reason to use my brand new joystick.

my spies tell me that planetry interaction will have industrial bits aswell; like farms and population managment and basically civilisation in space (shut up about alpha centuri, that wasnt a real game, i never played masters of orion either)...
while ground based combatt is quite a sweet idea, its the fine line between feature and new-game, where as resurce managment is a lot easier to impliment... and more resources means more things for industrialist nil-sec carebares like me to do :D

As well, many of their environmental backgrounds (which they WERE bragging about in that video) were later used in COSMOS, and then in deadspaces.
Remember the first time we got the 'tornado nebula' missions? Hahahah ... people were referencing that vid talking about 'IT's HERE, IT's HERE!!!'

man, get your facts streight....
this mechanic was just based on "backgrounds" like when flying in the "tornado-backgrounds" in cosmos-sites (or this one toxic cloud mission). It was not good enough, so they didnt put more time into it, not to mention back then there were other things more important on the list.

If you want to try planetside they are offering a 14 days trial , to have it, download the new SOE launcHEr and On the menu you got the offers there i still 2 servers runner Werner : dont go there it's near empty Gemini : go there, lower the video levels and there is no lag (server in america, playing from france)
advice : dont rush in game : do the tutorial and go test in the training ground all weapons/ vehicles it will give good starting xp and view of the weapons range
3 empires NC : easy mode TR : hard mode VS : easy mode (since recently)

I'd rather they stick with space and develop AI more. We could see NPC corps and alliances start to take on activities similar to player corps and alliances.
What if you warped into a belt and found a Blood Angel gang attacking a Serpentis mining operation with escorts?
"Smarter" NPCs and more involved encounters, more dynamic missions, a world with more interactions and more options within the framework we already have.
Just my opinion.
I do think there could be uses for planets however. I've mentioned before, the idea that we might battle for control of planets in a similar way to stations. The owner of a planet will control trade routes and products produced on the planet. Essentially moons on steroids. This would give a reason to fight over "planetary control bunkers" which would give us yet more strategically valuable targets to attack and defend.
I don't have the details thought out, that's the job of the professionals, but the general idea could be worked out I'm sure.

Before planetary we should get ambulation.
There are some good ideas on their 'idea' page.
For instance:
Viceroyalty Shantytown Exhaust Ports (The modular aspect of T3 Cruisers could be a step this way). The Five Year Mission
Some of them are bad ideas though
Gold Rush would kill play for casual players
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

Well were slowly getting there. the bigger the game gets, the more stuff CCP can afford to do, which attracts more ppl etc.
The game just gets getting bigger and better as time goes on, which allows the game o get bigger and better
If they did too much stuff too fast it will get that 'empty' feeling. And if they do too little things will get too crowded and static

why would people whine about that... considering it was in 2006, it looks awesome.
i feel planets/atmospheres would open up a lot of doors for additional pve and pvp content. we just need something to make space a little more interactive and variable.
however, i feel the new roid fields are a big step in the right direction! i mean, you warp in and theyre freakin huge, gotta navigate around em, to get to the rats, etc. this kinda stuff makes the environment more interactive and spacey. just so tired of fighting at gates.
