with the ongoing problems of video issues that only eve seems to have. CCP needs to really do something about this. I have not been able to play eve for aw hile. and at this point thinking of cancelling my subscription. I have been plagued by video problems left and right and even though I know that my laptop meets all the requirements. All the other games I play that are even more demanding seem to work fine with out a problem. Eve for some strange reason is the only game that does not work. I have been experiences all the problems that are in this forum, which include and not limited to
Lag ( and its gotten worst lately) Video resolution problems Crashes ( blue screens) Slow performance.
My specs are X1000 compaq presario 1.7 ghz dothan 1024 MB of ram 60 gig 7200 hard drive 128 kpbs dsl connection ( which I think should be sufficient enough to play eve)
ATI radeon 9200 Mobility with 32mb of VRAM. Windows XP SP2 I tried just about everything. from downloading old 4.7 catalyst drivers to tryin win 98 compatibility mode and nothing seems to work. Upon clicking on eve I get Windows has recovered from a device failure and everything appears large. I restart and everything goes back to normal. but then I still can't play if that does not happen then I get a bluescreen it tells me that there was a problem with ati2v.... I know its the video drivers that is probably causing most of the problems but all the other games seem to work fine. Eve however does not.
I wish CCP would release another patch to fix these crazy issues as its very fustration having to reinstall and configure everything all over again. That is a luxury that I dont have right now as I need my computer for day to day operations. and its a game with in it self to install all that crap all over again and activating windows, putting in drivers, and apps all over again, .... a game that I dont feel like playing at this point.
I am open to suggestions.

Well eve arnt likly to release a patch just for you, since no one else is posting with that problem, but i think it sounds like your laptop might not like eve, i use a Radeon 9800 -SE- on a desktop pc, and it works fine.

Humm. ATI radeon. Thats the prob. I have ATI also and i have had a lot of prob with it. I had to install old drivers to make it work and put down the graphic . And almost every one that have ATI card's is having atleast one problem. I can play Doom3 on my comp on max details but not Eve.

Edited by: Ptera on 20/08/2004 17:37:17 Make sure you are not using DX 9c
DonĘt know if this will help, but I play quite fine on a P3 733, 384mg Ram, and an ATI 9000 Pro with 128mg. I had to lower resolution to 1024 X 768, switch to 16 bit color, and I changed the blend to dither. Until I can afford to upgrade this seems to works quite well and the graphics are still quite pleasing.

Jamie8259, have you been to Rage3d & visit the forums. They have a section on mobile chipsets along with the patch program to modify the 4.7 drivers to run on mobile chipsets
The Cat drivers as they stand will not run on ANY mobile chipset as notebook builders re-write them to include and remove features as needed (custom power managment, clock slowdown etc)
The 9200 ATi card had a known problem with VPU recovery in early 4.x drivers that should be fixed with the 4.7 version
Also if you install SP2, you may have to run eve in win98 compatability mode, I have to but it casues no problems.

it's a driver issue. Your video driver is misbehaving.
I'll assume eve was working fine at some point. What drivers were you using when eve was running fine? Did you add anything else to your system, like drivers for sound or other things, or a new program or antivirus or firewall? Has ANY change been made to your laptop since it was working fine? |

well I tried it and it worked. now video performance is very slow. especially leaving a station.
power management is off.
and before I had a compaq evo n610 with a 32mb radeon 7500c. it worked perfectly. the laptop I have now is alot faster, and radeon 9200 mobility, 1.7ghz, dothan core pentium M. and 1 gig of ram. not sure what is really going on but at least I can play now.

What're your fps? I get between 10 and 40 at 16*12. I got the same fps at 10*7, no matter the color or detail settings. Otherwise, the game runs perfectly for me. I am running the 4.4 catalysts, so you might try those.
