Edited by: Major Templar on 16/03/2009 12:28:38 Yes!! Please!!
I am so bad at the new map. It's gone all weird on me. When I set a destination, the blinking is off into la la land. I try to move it and it's all off and not wanting to let me see around. The stupid stars are going away when I try to get them to show up. I set to look at sovereignty and the colors disappear. And the best thing of all, right in the middle of the map, there is 4 stars that are nothing but BIG WHITE BLOBS!!! Please, fix it or bring old one back. Thanks.

Edit: Spelling was way off, lol.

I agree! The map appears to be "washed out". Lines are barely visible and highlighting any statistic produces these washed out blobs.

This is luckily fixable. Unflatten the map and flatten it again. _

The new map does indeed suck. The washed out blobs look kinda cool, but really detract from the functionality of it all... Trying to view any systems up close is incredibly frustrating... Even hovering the mouse NEAR a system instantly pops up the info list etc which of course, gets in the way of what you really want to look at. Simply changing the mouseover time to 1-2 seconds would make this thing SO much better.

I don't mind the way the new map looks, I actually find it a little better to see the connecting systems now (have all lines visible) due to the "washed" now semi-seethrough effect.
The problem which I have come accross though is quite maddening. If you have the amount of "active pilots in the last 30 minute" selected from your starmap settings, the selector is all over the place it seems, particularly when the map is flattened.
In some cases the system your cursor is hovering over shows up, at other times its one of the close by neighbouring systems and sometimes it's even Jita 20 jumps away! I usually find I'm having to move the cursor back and forth around in empty space, or around the connecting system lines somewhat to get that systems pop-up info, if it works at all.
However if you select to see the starmap security statuses for example, you don't get this problem.
I also agree with changing the mouseover to a 1-2 seconds delay, or at least have an option for it in the map settings.
So in other words, something has gone pear shaped with this update that CCP needs to get sorted.

I was getting so frustrated for this very reason, almost like your cursor has a string attached to it and it just travels close to where you want to go, and about 80% of the time it IS Jita. What worked for me was turning off HDR. Map was back to being able to click on each solar system. Not saying it will work for all, but....

These bugs you mention should be fixed in an upcoming client patch. Not the one this week but the next one after that. These bugs bother us as much as they bother you. Our Senior Producer Torfi wrote the map back in the day so as you might guess it's near and dear to his heart so you can count on it being fixed soon.
