Currently im using a raven to run LV 4 missions, and its been going smoothly. But i think it could be better.
Setup is this:
High:
6 x Meta 3 Cruise Launchers
Medium
Boost Amp Meta 4 Large Shield Booster 3x Specific Hardeners 1 Capacitor Recharger
Low
2 x BCUs 3 x Capacitor Power relays
As you can see, there is a lof of capacitor regen in that. Enough to let me perma boost really. While Perma Boosting is nice, there are very few places where i need it when running missions.
So i am able to drop 1 cap module for something. But i dont know what. What could i use in place of these that would give me a bonus to run missions faster?

Swap out for a Target painter? Kill those Cruisers and BC's faster, not that they're a huge problem for cruise missiles.

and maybe also switch relays for Flux coils.. Relays pretty much kill Shield Boosting Setups.

Problem with flux coils is that they dont give me nearly the same recharge as relays, as they reduce the capacitor amount. Trading the 3 relays i go from a perma boosting setup to a 4 minute setup that tanks 20% more while active.

true. well its hard to master a good perma run with Flux Coils.
im using a Perma Boosting setup atm with mine atm, hard to master it, but sacrifices alot, im also close to being not perma. but only by 0.3.
works quiet well, but like i said, sacrifices a bit. got only 1 BCU, and using 2 Invuls, but because i only use 2 Invuls, i have to have a good boosting.
meaning i only boost 1.3k Shield per Cycle with a Normal T2 X-Large.

2x Power Diag II 3x Ballistic Control II
5x hammer/hob
No troubles as of yet.

Using any launcher lower than arbalasts is just stupid.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

XT-9000 Cruise Launcher: 810K Arbalest Cruise Missile Launcher: 2.4M.
If you have low ISK after outfitting, you really don't have a choice.

Too much cap regen, you're overtanked quite a bit really.
I personally use 3x BCU, 1xPDU, 1x DCU II in the lows on my missioning Raven. The tank increase more than makes up for not being permaboost. Realistically, if you need to permaboost with a Large booster, you're doing it VERY wrong. Personally, I alternate between two setups depending on how tough the mission is:
LESSER MISSIOINS (up to Guristas Extravaganza):
MIDS: 2x Pithi B-Type Small Shield Boosters 1x Shield Boost Amplifier II 3x Rat-Specific Hardeners.
Permaboosts at 64% of cap with BOTH boosters running, most missions I don't need the second booster, INCLUDING GUristas Extravaganza.
HIGHER MISSIONING: (lotsa frigs/cruisers, things like Worlds Collide):
1x Pithi B-Type Large Shield Booster 1x Shield Boost Amplifier II 3x Rat-Specific Hardener 1x PWNAGE Target Painter
Tank lasts 3min on this setup, that's all that's generally needed if I manage my aggro well. Only warpout I've ever had was on Vengeance, where it turned out was misled to hardeners needed. PWNAGE helps a bit on smaller ships, expecially with Sig Focusing IV.
Basic idea is to increase your gank to run 'em quicker. You do that on Ravens with:
Target Painters Ballistic Control Units t2 or faction launchers
Skills involved should be obvious in terms of missiles, for target painters you want Long Range Jamming, Signature FOcusing, and Frequently Modulation, FaZction gear will do you better in terms of DPS, but is expensive on the market.
The Deadspace gear I use was all 30-40M on the market, not that bad = even the large pith booster.
Good luck to you.

I'm curious what kind of rigs you'd recommend with this setup. Thanks.

Edited by: Captain Gunn on 18/03/2009 16:19:29 Running with a CNR, but fitting was pretty much the same back in my old vanilla raven:
High:
7 Arba cruise 1 rail/vampire/smartbomb (depending on mission)
Med:
Large SB II Booster amp II 4 hardeners II (depending on mission)
Low:
3 BCU 2 PDS
This works for all missions and my skills are 'almost' up to permatanking it on this setup. As it's pretty much a permatank however you may get the odd rare occasion where you need to warp out when dps gets too hot, but otherwise this setup works fine for all lvl 4's.
Btw, anyone think I've got too much resist on? Seems surplus to requirements most of the time, thinking of dropping one for a cap recharger II to have a good ol' 100% permatank...

I dont even try to perma run a booster. Gank > Tank imo.
I run a CNR now but set up doesnt change much in general from the satndard Raven i used, it just does the job faster.
4x T2 Hardner XL T2 Booster Pwnage target painter
3x BCU, 2x PDU
Extra BCU and painter bumps up the damage noticabley while the extra hardner and the bcu's keep the tank going just fine.
To get extra speed in missions its damage. Damage dealt also saves you having to tank as you reduce the incoming dps faster. The comment on Arby launchers is spot on, as soon as you can afford them get them.
Longer term if you are missioning a lot, T2 or Navy launchers and moving up to a Navy Raven is a big big boost that you should aim for.

What I use for rigs are 1xCCC, 2x Warhead Rigor - that way, I can kill twice as quick on BCs on down, as I can split up my launchers a bit and take out more than one at a time :)
If you find yourself getting overwhelmed, can substitute another SHield Boost Amp for the PWNAGE and lower your need for the booster - as long as you manage aggro well, drones are plenty sufficient for the frigs, and it takes one more volley without the PWNAGE to pop cruisers.

The time of perma boosting has past!
Gank > Tank
Problem solved.

Starting to agree with you there. Was doing 'Enemies abound p5' last night and due to the perma boost setup I didn't have enough boost to maintain the tank OR dps to bring down the hard hitting npc's in time. X-Large SB II here we come :D
