I'm looking forward to the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic MMOG.
If it turns out as good as the hype...I may just abandon EVE for it.
We'll see.

to say i 'love' kotor would associate the word love with a magnificence and magnitude i don't think is intended. worship perhaps? covet? lust?
bottom line, i'm a big fan and i can't wait to try the MMO. Will i like it is a better question. It's easy to take a great concept and screw it up with a 'new and improved' version. I dont like the idea i can't 'beat' the game. It's the main reason i dislike MMOs overall... (i made fun of eve for months before i was basically forcefed the trial and got hooked).
I really hope the game lives up to the hype. If it is good enough, i might even leave eve (and that's the first time i've said that about any game)
Do i like kotor? lol. I almost sent my new pc back to new egg, part by part, when i had trouble getting kotor to work on a new pc. (by the way, i have a short list of cure-alls for running kotor 1&2 on newer pcs if anyone needs advise) ---------- "This is Chopper Dave's made for TV movie, Blades Of Vengeance. See, he's a chopper pilot by day, but by night he fights crime as a werewolf... YEAH!" |

Well, I loved Kotor 1...Kotor 2 was OK but not as good. They rushed it.
Just hope they dont botch the MMOG version.

Edited by: Destination SkillQueue on 18/03/2009 10:33:14 KOTOR 2 was forced out the door before it was finished and I remember the makers complaining, that they needed a few more months, but were forced to get it out on christmast market. I do like KOTOR -series a lot though, but mostly for their stories and storytelling. The actual games where pretty simple and easy. Without those stories, there isn't anything special about them. Almost any other RPG beats them gameplay wise.
I wonder how you could translate that to an MMO. Problem is, that single player games are just much better at this. They offer better stories for much lower cost. If they just do a generic MMO, I don't see a reason why other than big starwars fans would switch. There are alot of them, so they are enough to make it successful.
I haven't read any of the hype and won't. I'll see how it turns our, but my expectations are set to pretty low, like with all other new MMOs. It's easy to promise things, when you don't have to deliver any of it yet. It might end up killing SW galaxies though, so that's a good thing.

After being disappointed with both Age of Conan & Warhammer I feel a little MMO shy.
I will (foolishly) try it out when it's released but it will really have to break new ground if it's going to keep me interested.
I hope MMO developers have finally realised that releasing an unfinished product is certain death. Players are less forgiving compared to when Eve was released.

Forgot EA were releasing this. Another title I cannot buy.
Promised myself I wouldn't buy another EA game until they got rid of SecureROM, and I doubt this will be free of it, even if there is an account to provide authorisation. Big companies like to stick to their policies, and if their policy says it gets added to all software releases, then it will be on this.
Pity really, because I was looking forward to it. BioWare do tend to produce some well-told stories. Even if the mechanics can lack a little, their general expertise usually makes up for it.

I played both kotor 1 and 2 and I think the 2nd was better... Although some parts of the plot were so stupid there :) But I guess it can't be avoided. ------------------------

Why Oh Why do games insist on inserting stupid love stories in them. That is the one thing I didn't like about KOTOR...the romantic drama.

I think KOTOR lent itself best to the single player experience. You were the guy who made all the decisions and effected how the story turned out. In an MMO your just another idiot wielding a red lightsaber going "OMG I RZ D4RtH V4D3R"
That and EA now owning bioware. I seem to remember another mmo that was only partially under the EA title known as Warhammer. Remember everything that was promised. All it ended up being was WOW battlegrounds 24/7. Prepare for the suckage.
Would much rather see a third, single player title.

I'm a fan of the series but I hope it doesn't get beaten to death like it's predecessor. I actually played it and enjoyed it when it first came out and then quickly lost interest once it turned to crap. I don't even know if SWG is still around but I know that I'll never go back to it. I would hate to see that happen to KOTOR.

I was hoping for a single player version, myself. I'll likely give the MMO a try, but even with their planned emphasis on story I don't believe it will be anywhere near as immersive as the first two.
I'd also been hoping that BioWare would do a Baldur's Gate 3. Unfortunately, the latter will probably never happen (and, come to think of it, SHOULD never happen, since the 4E rules set sucks for anything not involving hack n' slash, and even that's "meh"). They do, however, have a game coming out called Dragon Age: Origins that the producers have called "the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate" and set in their own world. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! KOTOR I was great, KOTOR II was a trashdump.
When it comes to Bioware they can make good products and they can make bad. What I fear is LucasArts. They had bad innfluence on SOE regarding the game Star Wars Galaxies. The game started out great, but Lucas Arts asked SOE to develope the game into a trashdump. So I have my doubts about the coming Star Wars game indeed.
For me I will be staying with EVE. I have played EVE now for 3,5 years, and unless CCP do a "NGE" - A COMPLETE rewamp of the game, controls and playability - I will be staying here most likely for a long long time...
