Looking for some ideas.
Just bought it before shutdown, haven't really touched on any other missions except for the new player 3 part tuts, and a fair way into the Epic Arc journey, however my Tristan can't cut it.
So basically looking for a build on a Gallente Catalyst (Destroyer);
For L1 Missions, and basic Frig. combat (range is the way to go I have read so far) so I'm thinking 125mm rails? Thinking an AB for one of the Med slots..low I'm not sure on.
And a possible second role once it doesn't become feasible to use for missions anymore. Salvaging build? Seems a lot of people said it was the goods. Mind you I've only come accross posts from 2006..
Cheers in advance, Sirrux.

Salvaging fit is expanders in lows, propulsion mod in mid, and 4 tractors and 4 salvagers in highs.
Dessies are ok for missions, they deal alot of damage but they have no tank and aren't as mobile as frigates... and therefor will die alot.

2x cap rechargers
energized adaptive plating damage control small armor rep
Should be enough to do lvl1-2 s no problems.
And for salvaging, stick 4 tractors and 4 salvagers, and an afterburner. Loot a wreck, jetison it, then lock and tractor it. Then use your afterburner to zip around looting and salvaging all the wrecks while putting all the loot i the can you tugging along.
Then when its all done just get in your industrial and collect it all :P
Honestly tho, its not rly worth salvaging level 1-2s, and usualy not even 3s either. Save the salvaging for lvl 4s and even then only vs mercanaries (they drop lots of mods) and angels (good salvage) :P |

The noob setup that I used 3 years ago was,
Hi- 8x 125mm Railguns (Iridium, Antimatter)[ammo depending on mission, I used iridium to pop frigates at max distance in one or two volleys IIRC] Med- Afterburner, Stasis Webber, Cap Recharger Low- Small Armor Repair, then either 2xEnergized Adaptive Nano Membrane, or 2x Mag Field Stab or one of each, low slots can be played with a little bit tbh.
Don't expect to tank, destroyer imho was meant to pop frigates and run from them, and that is all.

Ok well I did the following
Hi 4x 125mm Rails 3x 75mm Rails (comes in handy for those close frigs busting me up) 1x Havent decided
Med: Using 2x Cap recharges however I think it's overkill and might drop one, maybe for a net.
Low: Exactly the same as third poster.
Frigs drop in one or two shots, as soon as they get close though, geez do I feel it. Some of the lvl1 "higher up" NPC frigs really do hurt, I was chasing one from 10km with those 125mm's blazing and he got me down to nearly pure chassis/shell.
Need to work on strat, and prob some other skills.
Thanks again for the loadouts!

As the Catalyst isn't exactly the most mobile of ships to start with, another option is to stick as big a plate as you can fit in the lows along with a small repper for a slightly better tank.
While mixed guns are not normally recommended, for L1 missions replacing a couple of rails with blasters can help deal with frigates that get too close, although you will probably be okay with a couple of 75 mm rails.
Low: 200 mm plate, energised reactive membrane, small repper Mid: AB, cap booster/cap recharger Hi: Mix of 125 mm and 75 mm rails depending on what you can fit (optionally 2 blasters)

Both points are true, but there are more missions that have reasonable to good loot.
(salvage from mercenaries is crap though)
Gone Berserk (EoM - Equilibrium of Mankind): Great loot if you're looking for easy minerals... lots of large modules. Salvage is close to worthless.
Drone missions (Rogue/Rouge Drones): Great loot if you're looking for easy minerals. Salvage is not impressive.
