Ive had this problem since mid February and have been working on it with eve support for three weeks now. When i go to start eve i get the splash screen sits for a minuet goes away then nothing. just sits under processes and dose nothing.
Things we have tried-
Uninstalling client and deleting all cache files for administrator and all users under application data and in my documents. Uninstalled and reinstalled updated arialuni.ttf font Updated all known drivers Uninstalled ATI drivers and installed omega drivers. Uninstalled and disabled java addon for firefox. Roll back system recovery before issue. sadly no help. Turn Screen saver off, tried every possible screen resolution. set style to windows classic. Ran as administrator normal and safe mode. created another account and installed under that user. Updated .net framework 3.5 and java 6 u12 Rubbed it with lambs blood. and many other little things.
If your having the same issue try these different things some have worked for others but not me. If anyone has any other ideas or tricks i can try please let me know.

try starting the logserver and see if you get any red stuff in the logs. I don't expect you do know how to read anything out of it but you just might or you can simply send the log in a bug report. _______________ |

My game worked perfectly since Feb.. today i got disconnected in a mission and tried to log i again,.. got stuck in authentication screen and had to reboot..
after that i cannot launch the game anymore even after restarts. maybe my character got stuck during authentication?
also when launching splash screen dissapears and the only program running is CCP Exefile.exe

Edited by: Haradgrim on 18/03/2009 23:44:24 I am now suffering from this issue as well
The one thing I would add is that I have managed to successfully get the client to load by forcing it to run in 640x480 resolution (under properties) but I couldn't do anything (couldn't see the options when I opened the options window because it was off screen). I managed to log in with some lucky tab presses, but couldn't get past the character select screen....
Edit: Whose going to man up and be the one to reinstall windows? --

UPDATE:
I've managed to get EVE up and running, if you force eve to run in 640x480 (as I described above), and you are crafty, you can change over to fullscreen mode (from windowed, which seems to be the only mode effected). Once in fullscreen you can change back to windowed it works.
After closing the client, I was able to run it again successfully (came up in windowed mode) but once I tried loading a second client at the same time I was unable to do so (it crashed). The window that I already had running was unaffected, but when I closed it and tried to re-open it..... it just crashed.
I tried repeating the process and while I can now get it to run in windowed by loading it in 640x480, changing to fullscreen and then changing back to windowed (it doesn't revert back to 640x480 btw), when I try to run it again; it just crashes (not the same as hanging which is what it was doing when I posted my first message).... --

okay! thank you thank you thank you Haradgrim. i was having this same problem and was able to fix it with what you posted!!! it appears eve DOES NOT handle windowed mode very well at all and may have been the cause of this. i normally do not play in windowed mode and had somehow been switched to it.
here's what i did: --right click on the eve launcher icon and go to properties --in properties go to compatibility tab --in compatibility tab enable run in 640x480 resolution (i also did run as administrator, probably not needed though) --launch the game, it should open but be too huge to do anything in, this is fine --hit escape key to pull up menu (get a little tricky here, mouse pointer is not where you put it) --under graphics and display tab->windowed or full screen you probably have it set to windowed, change this to full screen --using tab key move down which option is "selected", it will scroll through them until you can't see it anymore --last option is "present interval", when you hit tab after getting to this one the "selected" indicator might vanish, if it does it's on apply so hit enter --screen should update and be visable normally! YAY!! it will ask you if you want to save the changes, click YES!!!
if yours works the way mine just did a few seconds ago, these steps will fix the problem completely

Thx Demonfist.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. I think that issue can be resolved with deleting the cache files. but my client will not load still. |

I reinstalled and deleted my cache files before I did anything. When you say its not working for you; do you mean that it doesn't come up when you force it to 640x480?
One quick tip that should help get around something I was struggling with for a while;
Once you manage to select fullscreen in the options menu, hit tab so that the next box is selected and hit escape, the settings should kick in without hitting Apply --

I've just managed to recreate the issue on a PC that was running the game properly previously. The issue seems to originate (at least for me) when you attempt to run two clients in windowed mode after the last patch.... after trying that the first time on two seperate PCs I have been unable to load even one windowed mode client without first starting it in Full Screen or using the work around above.... --

sounds similar to an issue i had before the last expansion. when running duel window mode clients upon being d/c'ed i would go to open up eve again and the splash screen would pop up but than the login screen would sit in the task bar and not come up when right clicking on it to move it i noticed the cursor would shoot up to the upper left corner of the screen. providing you are not running windows with the screen resolution maxed out you can bump it up another size and eve will appear again.
For some reason when it crashes in such a way it moves the login screen out of view. I personally haven't tried any of the other workarounds but since that time i always keep my screen resolution down one or two notches so i can fix it with relative ease. not sure if it would work for anyone else just sharing my experience.

When i force start it in 640x480 the splash screen comes up in that resolution, then splash leaves and the screen goes back to default resolution and exefile.exe is still in the processes. let it sit fro a while and nothing ever loads

Static - i found a work around that worked for me.
It's annoying, but it worked. I did a system restore. Basically i took my comp back to before the situation happened, had to re-install eve and now it works.

I had the same problem of the flash screen starting to load then the game just closing while the process kept running. Here's what fixed it for me:
End task on eve in the process list disable your network connection start eve as normal (this time you should get to login screen) re-enable your network connection now you can log in as normal
Almost certainly due to the recent changes to the megafail auto-update system. Everyone who has worked on that thing needs to be punched in the face twice and then fired imo.

splash, process stops, and then nothing....
same boat here, non of the above has helped me. I dont have a restore point far enough back and i'm not reinstalling the entire OS over again, I've done that too many times the last few weeks trying to fix this thing. No more testing on sisi for me, everytime I launch that client this crap happens and I'm just fed up. 2 characters aren't skilling anymore and my main is about to finish his last skill, CCP give us an answer I know I'm not the only one that's submitted bug reports and petitions on this issue.
For the people with the eve launching minimized thing that's been on and off for some time, the best thing to do with that is clear the cache/settings, then recopy all ur settings back in except the prefs.ini that's how I've gotten around that in the past.

Sorry to bump this, but I just wanted to say thanks.
2 separate Steam installs and same issue on both. I needed to download this file and put it in the steam install of Eve. After this it worked fine.
There is some serious issue here that needs to be addressed!

Had this issue with a corp member, we tried for hours to get it working, the fix didnt work exactly on our computers but it did point us in the right direction.
It appears it wont let u press the apply button on some machines after doing the 640x480 trick and then changing to fullscreen, however pressing alt+enter once loaded in 640 mode did work
Thx v much :) |
