Based over the past couple weeks, Zydrine prices have been rising from a consistent 4200-4400 to 4500-4700. Reasons have been given which include ore rarity, ship consumption (raising demand for all minerals) and the amount needed for BS construction. Calls for increased mining of precious ore has not been enough. Zydrine output (just like oil in real life) is at maximum and there isn't much capacity to go any higher. If you think that miners are holding out for higher prices and not selling at current elevated levels, you're nuts. The minerals channel is filled with "WTB Zydrine" and "anyone selling Zyd?"
I strongly advise my fellow manufacturers to start stocking up on Zydrine before it gets even higher in cost. I've bought a large amount two weeks ago at 4200 and happy I did--it's the only way I can eke out a good profit on my ships. You should do the same, otherwise you will be faced with the possibility of significantly raising your prices to cover costs and being out of the ship building business, because others like me can sell at lower cost.
People choosing not to heed my advice will be obvious. They will be the ones posting over the next couple of weeks threads entitled "Zyd prices out of control," "CCP please intervene," and "We need Ark and Crok in 1.0 space!"

Ummm...yeah, says the guy who just brought in 200k zyd on his last trip from the hinterlands.
Buy it at what price you can, and make a margin with what you can.

Ark isn't the Best source of Zydrine so maybe you shouldn't be bringing them in maybe other roids. -----------

this is espically noted in the Northern Regions due to the outbreak of wide scale war.

Zyd and Mega are going to reach parity in price soon. If anything mega will be cheaper as it takes more zyd to build most things.
The other day the cheapest Zyd in one system was 5200 and the cheapest mega was 5800 (albeit only 100 unit)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hmmm I need a Sig |
Yes there is limmited supply, but in the end it's probably just corps and alliances with access to the right kinds of ore that are simply driving up prices.
Just consider that before trying to create a panic that will surely have a negative effect on prices, or...
Are you just trying to drive up the prices, dear ?
Building up stock when the price is high is really a bad advice.
Rumor has it that this isn't a result of normal market operation, but rather by market manipulation. If that is the case, it is something that will not last longer than the people doing it's persistence.
Instead of stocking up on the stuff, I'd suggest... go mine. Sell it while the price is high, at good profit. Perhaps easier said than done, but it's been good incentive for my guild to finally start its move into 0.0 space. :)
I currently buy Zydrine for between 4900 and 5100 in Lonetrek depending on the prices for quantities i need at the time of day. I build ships and i build these ships and sell them taking the higher zydrine costs into effect, so im charging a bit more than the cheapest sellers who have stocked up yet and my ships still sell. Albeit a little slower but i still make nice profit off my wares . Just under an hour ago i sold a cruiser for 400k above the cheapest in the region that was 5 jumps away and for 25% profit even though i brought the zydrine for slightly less (4950) than the figure i used in my build cost calculations (5000). That money has just gone into buying more Mega and Zyd so i have enough to build 3 more cruisers as i mine everything else.
Just cause the price of Zydrine is rising dont mean there is gonna be panicing over zydrine costs, most manufacturers will just up their prices slightly to take this into consideration. Those people who brought zyd at 4200 and still use that number in their build cost and profit calculations need to think, as they would probably make more money by selling the zydrine instead of selling items and ships cheaper, using 4200 as the mineral cost when that aint true, that screws everyone forced to buy it at 5000 isk per unit. Even though you stock up 200k zyd at 4200 dont mean that you should use that figure in your calculations, if your smart youll use the price you can get for the minerals now in build cost calculations to show your REAL profit.
Thats my opinion, sorry for the rant.
Zydrine output is far from maximum.90% of Zydrene-containing space in EVE is currently engulfed in war.I know for a fact that in the nothern regions from Fade to Tenal , no corp has conducted major mining operations for the past 3 months ! Whatever little high-end ores corps managed to pull out inbetween the fights , most likely went to replace their ship losses and none for sale.
Arguing with EVE customer support is like chatting up stewardess on the plane - you know you're not gonna get any , but it's still hella fun trying |
Yep, this is exactly the reason for the rise in zydrine prices. The main zydrine production is in the north, this is where the Crokite is found which is the best source of zydrine. If those guys can't mine, then the main supply of zydrine dries up and supply economics dictate that the price will go up. I know of a load of guys embroiled in the northern war that have personal stockpiles of zyd of 40K and more that just can't get it to the market.
On the flip side, why are megacyte prices coming down? I bought 3000 mega at 5900 this morning on the highway and 8000 zydrine at 5000!
I'd guess that southern miners are mining more and more bistot and arkonor to get zydrine to cash in on the shortages. However, this gives them a lot of megacyte as well which they will be dumping on the market. The result being that there's far more megacyte than usual hitting the market and everyone starts undercutting each other to make a sale. So the price drops.
Quite basically, I think that zydrine at 5,000+ is here for a while. At least until one side or another achieves some kind of dominance up north.
Zydrine output level are far from maximum, as stated before. Many 0.0 regions rich with crokite (pure blind, fade, venal, tenal, ...) are in war and noone is mining big quantities there.
There are also HUGE quantities of crokite in Tribute and Vale of the silent, which is currently controlled by TPS. But TPS is enforcing sell prices of zydrine on anyone who mines there. (i have to congratulate TPS for suceeding in manipulating market like this!) TPS dictactes high prices of zydrine, they are stockpiling it now.. because they cannot sell huge quantities at those prices, and they don't need to sell it at the moment.
But as northern war is moving to Tribute and vale of the silent. (m0o and evolution just started attacking TPS yesterday if i'm not mistaken) and if those attacks continue.. this will eventually force tps to speed up zydrine sales and start selling it at a bit lower prices. My estimate would be at about 4200-4300.
Any comments on my predictions? (I was nostradamus in my previous life)
I see daily large sums of zydrine sold, this is all just market manipulation. Their isn't a real increase in price and i stated this weeks ago that if people didn't withhold from buying high or go mining themselves that zydrine would rise in price and surpass mega. If anything it exposes the flaws in a player based economy, which means ccp should be watching this closely.
