Hi,
I am just wondering what the process is for creating an new channel on the forums.
The reason being that I am so sick of the same whiner threads being created about the same issue day by day. These threads have the same people trolling and complaining about the same things over and over.
Can't a channel be created called EVE Whines, Rants and Trollzone?
Move anything that isn't constructive there and free up the discussion forums for actual discussion about topics about the game instead of just claiming the game is broken and making a stupid suggestion that only suits the OP.
If you look at these forums at the moment it looks like EVE is not worth playing at all. There are lots of players out there that DO NOT THINK THE GAME IS BROKEN but we can't have our voice heard or discuss topics without being slated by the trolls and then by the time the 100 trolls make their comment, there is no room left for decent discussion. Like who is going to read through 2-3 pages of trolling before they actually come to a valid point.
I know there's such a thing as freedom of speech and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that does not mean that you can't create a section for topics that end up Trollfest 2011.
The rule to support this should be that once a topic desends in Trollism the point that it started along that path should be cut off and move to the Troll channel.
Happy forums -> Happy players -> constructive discussion.

Some of the private forums I have visited over the years would have specific sections that troll and rant threads would be moved to.
For instance, Warhammer Alliance had 'The Volcano' for a number of years while it was still a useful section.
Moderators would throw these threads into that section to die in a collective heap of stank.

Yes, but by the time I use this on all the trolls I will have burned out all the fossil fuels on earth and there will be no power left to run my EVE client so in the end the trolls will still win

If the mods were to move every thread that got trolled by CCP haters to another channel there'd be none left in general and a bunch of pissed off OP's.
If the mods started deleting posts the haters would jump on the oppression bandwagon.

I agree with the original poster completely.
Do I think CCP has failed to deliver on promises made in just about every category of development? I dont really think its up for debate. Obviously many areas lag far behind their own projected release schedule. CCP has acknowledged this.
Has CCP used Eve subscriber money to develop two other games at the expense of adding new "FiS" features? Sure. Again, not really up for debate. CCP has acknowledged this as well.
Is the game "broken", unplayable, grossly imbalanced, and boring? Of course not. There are elements that fit this description, but if you actually get out of the forums and log into the game now and then, these discussions rarely take place on tranquility. The bittervets have logged off, and the players that do log in do so without constantly complaining, and most of them are oblivious to the fact that the forum has devolved into a pitchfork-waving bittervet mob.
And whats really sad, is that the pitchfork crowd (and I mean those that are solely focused on tearing the company down and crying fail wherever they can) has been hurting the game and community more through their complaining than they are making any progress towards improvement. They've effectively created an informational smokescreen through which those curious about the game and going to the forums to LEARN more about gameplay, etc, have to filter out what is constructive feedback and what is just mindless trolling.
Half the time, serious questions are labeled "TROLL THREAD" by those thinking that the original poster couldn't have possibly actually wanted to know the answer. Sarcastically crying "troll thread" without knowing the original poster's intentions is both arrogant and destructive to the community the rest of us are trying to build the game despite these rough times. It demonstrates lack of maturity, poor sportsmanship, and is generally just an asshat move.
I'm totally fine with rounding up these threads and their creators, and filtering out legitimate criticism from "CSM IS FAIL CCP IS FAIL" bullshite that we've had about enough of.
Also, I'd be totally fine with CCP quashing the comments of those who have already declared their unsub. There is a significant number of people posting here who have no intention of logging back into the game, have already declared it dead in their minds, yet continue to post here to vent their anger and venom. This is 100% destructive and should not be tolerated. You all know you are, please simply leave. Show the rest of your former friends and corpmates that basic respect at least.

Who does the determination? Overworked CCP employees? Volunteers?
Then if perfectly good thread can get trolled, does it get moved? Are we giving trolls the ability to kill any thread they do not like?
I like the idea, but it needs several other good ideas to make it work.
Lastly, what do we call it? I suggest:
The Soapbox
Its the ultimate expression of unfettered free speech.
CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. |

The Eve General is the correct subforum to register distaste, moving all 'non constructive' discussion to a 'trollzone' will just result in a subforum that is ignored completely.
If you don't like what someone has to say then just move on.
Perhaps is CCP weren't such a bunch of derp's and started fixing the things people have legitimate issues with then there wouldn't be the need for any complaints.

The main reason why I made this thread is because I like open discussion, i like debate and I love seeing people express their ideas and open them up to others. The issue with these forums is the discussion works like this.

Abouthte game being broken: absolutely not.
I live in a remote lowsec constellation and still i see people setting up POSes, POSes being destroyed and replaced, PvP roams, a few miners, lots of explorers and site-runners, large alliances staging ops, corps setting up headquarters and trying to take over the area, etc.
So, as someone above remarked, log in and start doing things instead of going "Grumph!! CCP failed to put the colors i like on this and that".
Also, I just hide the trolls, do it - it's worth it. |

For new players trying to learn the game, well, you would think they would start in the New Players forum(the one marked 'Newbies Start Here' iirc), for people with good ideas they should fo to the F&I forum(which also doesn't get trolled nearly as much), for people who want to discuss where they feel the game is currently/where it is headed, then the proper forums is general. Trolling posts you don't agree with is a valid form of disagreement on the internet(sorry nice guy police!) so your going to get that in a forum where you should be expressing your opinion.
Oh look! You posted in general! Wrong forum if this is something you want implemented, but if your just trying to express your opinion of the game, you came to the right place! Oh, and also the right place to get trolled for whining about trolls 
Just because highsec doesn't have any people complaining about mechanics(that currently favor highsec), and people are still trying to function within the game doesn't mean nothing is broken. Just ask anyone who plays FW, or fights for sov, or tries to compete with bots on the markets, or really, does anything more than just highsec carebearing and griefing, and they will be able to tell you something thats broken in this game :P
