I'm hoping the author of EFT will add this functionality soon, but in the meanwhile, here's a Converter from EFT fitting format to EVE's XML format.
Usage:
- In EFT, on a ship's fitting window, click the little arrow to the right of the ship icon and select "Copy to clipboard".
- Paste into the converter and click "Convert".
- Save the resulting file under "C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My Documents\EVE\fittings", or whatever the corresponding directory is on your platform of choice.
- In EVE, open the fitting screen, click Browse, then Import, select the new fitting and "Import".
- Enjoy your new fitting

When I tested it, it used the name of the setup from EFT as the shiptype, and the loaded charges as part of the weapon names.

Go to the EVE folder in your documents folder.
[username]>Documents>EVE
Then make a folder called "fittings" in it. Paste the .xml file in there. Voila!

try another Heretic fit and see if it fails again...im thinking the string hes checking against for the Heretic is spelled wrong...

It probably doesn't work because of the quotes in 'Langour'. I'll get it fixed ASAP.

I'll fix the drones as soon as I can get to a drone ship in EVE and find out the format. In the meanwhile, I made it so it ignores drones.

Here are some more EFT/EVE related tools..
Linkage - See how many trips it will take in your carrier or mothership to move your fleet!
Linkage - Paste as many EFT setups into this as you like, and it will generate a nice list for your shopping spree. :-)
(disclaimer, CEO made them - not me - YMMV)

bumped yet again, seriously, we needs what i said on the first page.....
also HIGHLY suggested improvement:
make the page have 2 windows, one u paste the fit into, and one that shows the output
the converter could keep adding fits to the output so that u can export ur fits into one big XML (new button as well) so that when EVE finds the XML it can also import all the fits at once...
i have enough XML know how to splice all my exported fits together into one file but thats annoying and not every one knows...

I expect the author of EFT to add this functionality in the next release, making my converter obsolete, so I'm not going to be adding any more features to it. If time goes by and this isn't added to EFT, then maybe...

i know how XML works..plus if u have multiple fits and export them out of EVE it comes out in one big file
that and i copy/pasted some fits together into one from ur converter today...imported fine and currently in corp fits ^^

Just a strange thing : When using a download manager (in my case Free Download Manager with Firefox), the files comes win no name : .xml. Then Eve wont import it.

Yes author should just remove the file he created and hosted to share... Sorry to say that, but just STFU : you want a binary file, then code it !
I guess you're just an user and not a coder to ask something like that for a FREE project. You don't like it because you don't want your l33t fits revealed ? then don't use it. But respect the work of the author that accepts to share it freely.

Seems pretty good, just one minor, but persistant issue.
Every time I try to convert an EFT setup that has a ballistic control system the ingame setup adds 'Halcyon' Core Equalizer I instead and I get the error message:

That was a joke at my expense. If you didn't understand it, you don't need to. Anyway, the new EFT now exports to XML, so I'm discontinuing the converter.
