Edited by: Mella Elcus on 19/03/2009 21:16:21 Yes, another wh pos thread...
And no, I don't want to know if it is possible, I wan't to know know how practically doable it would be.
For starters, which race's CT should you choose, which guns and how many?
What's the chance someone will actually try to take your pos down? I mean, it's doable, but would anyone bother considering it would take quite some organization and determination? Not to mention time if you bring some stront...
And the bottom line, would it be worth it risk-vs-reward-wise?

To actually reply to your post ^^ IÆve built an entire POS inside wormhole space.
Key is know what your plan is, Write it down, And attack it like a bull.
As for what tower? Depends on what you want to do with it. I really liked the Minmatar Medium tower. Can fit lots of shiny guns, with enough CPU to fit the refinery, and all the assembly stuff i need. Its an entire home away from home if you do it right.
Defense wise, you only NEED to make it pointless. If your camped in a "normal" wormhole (one that says "leads to unknown space") thatÆs is a dime a dozen, so nobody is going to attack even a moderately defended pos.
"Dangerous space" or "Deep space" are rarer, but in the end its really not worth fighting over... yet...
If you manage to find "Deadly unknown space" I would suggest fitting a LARGE control tower with nothing less then a deathstar to defend it. Ive searched for well over 40 hours and have yet to encounter one.
As for hauling, its quite simple. PAITENCE! Every day i scan out the enterance to my little home. If that enterance leads to another wormhole, i scan out that enterance. If that enterance leads to high sec I do MASSIVE hauling runs using 4 accounts of interon 5's. I stock up on 3-4 weeks worth of fuel at the minimum (keep an extra corporate hanger array, online it, fill it with fuel, and offline it = free storage)
I run mining / exploration out of my wormhole. After building a carrier im going to start farming the combat sites. Thats my plan, I have it written on my wall above my computer.

I think you require sov 1 to deploy a capital ship assembly array for your carrier build. Does that apply in WH space?

the smaller "capital" ships can be built in an X-Large Ship assembly Array. No sov required.
(Carriers, Orca, Rorq, DREAD's even) Thinking of building a Rorqual after the Nid if my ducks line up in a row, How about that for a one man mining operation lol.

Folks on other threads are reporting that when they warp a carrier into a site the sleepers spawn half a dozen battleships and obliterate it.

the assorted OO and Low sec aliances have already blown up 2 medium and three small POSes in Wspace that I know of.

Also, with the current sleeper-sick-drone behavior, fighter support would basically be a bit of added tank while they focus on your assigned fighters before focusing on your ship. Now, perhaps a couple triaged carriers spider tanking a bunch of BS's might be feasible, but again, you'd ahve to keep the carriers alive.

I would imagine the only way to maintain a POS in WH space is to do it from the inside outwards.
It's unlikely that you will find your POS if you left the WH space entirely and your WH collapsed, 2500 WH systems is a lot of finding to get the same WH system again.
You'd need someone (at least 2 people really) always on the inside of the WH, scanning down the WH entrances/exits and shovelling fuel through WHs hoping no one collapses them in the meantime. --

Personally I have a small minmitar tower, with several guns, a refiner corp hanger maint array and drone/ammo assembly arrays, have been living inside a hole since the 11th. I have 3 months of fuel, and several friends. It's possible it's do able, and it's easy if you don't panic

i have a random question since cap ships can use wormholes... can they wh's them selves into high sec? has anyone tried this?
assuming you find the right connections of coarse

Nope, high sec WHs will not allow cap ships through. --

It's definitely possible.
The expedition I'm part of currently has 3 POS up in a dangerous system. Previously we had two up in an unknown. We're still just exploring and surveying so we haven't moved in fully since we want to remain mobile.
Re-supply isn't that big a deal if you do it from the inside. But our folks are getting used to the "long slog to the WH entrance or wait for a new one" game, not that we like it but it is what it is.
Biggest problem we've faced yet has been that in our initial move we allowed the fleet to become separated and it took a few days to remedy that. Without our full numbers we're a little low-powered for the neighborhood we're currently scouting. I'm a little concerned over the profit numbers as well, but that's fixable and only is bad in comparison to mainline Empire industrial corp profits.
But, gotta say, loving it. Totally still planning on living in here.
I'm so over k-space. Wormholes ate my sig.

I wonder if I saw your pos. I saw a capital building pos in w-space. What is the point of building caps out there- and why would anyone want to mine in w-space?

Mining w-space isn't a huge deal if you plan your mineral needs a bit ahead.
Perhaps they were building the capital ship for sale to someone when their WH connected to nearby k-space? Wormholes ate my sig.

I have a small Caldari Tower (which utterly sucks by the way), a few guns (thanks to the tower's crap PG), a hangar and maint array. I have a week of fuel, and no friends. And I kill just about everything that enters my system. It's possible, it's doable, and it's a hell of alot of fun.

My POS is entirely constructed of Faction, if ya saw it you'd know :) As for Mining, although it doesnt have ABC minerals galor, I can regularly find Hedber, Hemor, and Jaspet. Not horrible but something to do while the Nidhoggur is being constructed.
Why build the Nidhoggur? Simple - Remote rep GOD. I have 4 accounts, one Flying Nid, 3 Ravens. Plus my girlfriend in a Rokh, and One friend in a Golem, and another in a CNR. Sleepers are gona go boom :) Built inside a "Deep / Dangerous" wormhole and I got myself a T3 print machine.

Edited by: Beirut Papa on 23/03/2009 16:55:59 I've spent 2 days in sleeper space with a small caldari tower loaded with 30 days of fuel. 12 hours after I had set it up, mostly harmless wasted there ammo on it. A day later I lost a NH to a gank squad who once again wasted their ammo considering I tanked 260khp of dmg.
The only down side is if your doing this solo and get ganked and pod'd, then you just left a tower with god knows what else... Best bet would be to find sleeper space with asteroid belts and throw down a tower, ship assembly, corp hangar, ship maintenance, a ton of guns, missiles and EWAR stuffs with a few friends to survive and get something out of it...
Putting a tower down just to put one in sleeper space is not a bright idea... And to beat a dead horse, YES PPL WASTE THEIR AMMO SHOOTING AT POS's (with nothing on them) IN WORMHOLE SPACE (aka sleeper space). So if you got 100+ million isk to throw away, you can just give it to me :)

Minmatar small is way better for your needs.
Better grid - better bonuses - and you can arm up whatever type of ammo so your enemy doesn't know what type to tank for.
I only use a small caldari pos for labs. I dont bother with guns on them either - just a ****load of ECM to **** off harassers.

Yes, well hindsight is 20/20. Kinda realized once I had to start arming up that Caldari might not have been the greatest choice.
