Plain and simple, this is THE tank setup for a Thorax, it works for PvP and 0.0 belt rats:
Highs: 5x Light Neutrons tech 2
Mids: 10mn MWD, Webber (90%), Warp scrambler (20k)
Lows: 1600 rolled tungsten, RCU 1, Armor Hardners rat specific x 2 (active and named) and a medium armor repairer tech 2
8 wasps and antimatter ammo.
I have just over 3.5mil SP's and use this setup for everything, apart from missions where I may switch over for rails. If you know you won't be doing PvP then unfit the warp scrambler for something of your choice, like a painter or Cap recharger. This setup can waste any BS in 0.0 with ease. The hardest 0.0 belt is 4 or 5 100k rats and a BS or maybe even 2. You would have to warp in and out but can be done without any danger or risk.
The only thing to watch is if there are inty's. Just make sure you hit them first until they are all gone (don't want to get scrambled and then run out of juice with 2 BS's on you) then you can take down the BS's with the greatest of ease.

Hey everyone -
I havea quick question that I am sure someone could answer without batting an eye. For my rax, is it safe to assume that I should focus on boosting its armor as oppossed to its shields. I spent a good deal of time training shield skills, but from what it looks like (as all you veteren players know best) I should focus on hull upgrades skill and armor plates/resistance plating to free up M-slots for important PvP items like webers, sensor upgrades and possible (if I can fit it) a mwd or tracking disrupter.
I just starting playing Eve a month ago, can't believe I have missed out all this time, and loving every minute of it. Any advice for a noob will be very much appreciated...
And btw I have noticed that my original rax setup of H-slot consisting of 3 named 200MM railguns and 2 Medium Blasters ( I forget which had) wasnt working out too well. Is it better to load up a rax with all rails or all blasters? Thanks everyone.

rax will work much better with armor tanking
i think u can use setup like this
5x 200 mm rails
ab, web, cap recharger
2xactive hardeners ( if u can fit if no passive) medium armor rep, cap power relay and plate or 1 more cap power relay

I will be fully focused on armor tanking
Last night I actually modified my H-slots to 3 200mm named rails and 2 dual 150mm rails, so that when rogue drones start getting close to my tail and my medium drones are busy aggro-ing everything else in sight I can deal out varying optimal ranges of damage, unless you think having 5-200mm rails would be better than above setup...
I'm trying to focus on doing some secrity for mining ops, maybe that will help in anyone's additional setup advice for my rax. Thanks again wierchas!

You want to do good damage on a specific range... Not do crap damamge on multiple ranges...

i use 4 x 250mm hybrid proto's a drone extended range thingy bob. shield booster and a hull and armor repairer.
And 5 drones.
Thats all seems to be doing me just fine at 30km
