Wasn't sure where to post this.
I'm sure this behaviour has changed recently. Maybe I'm wrong.
What I have been noticing for the past month or so, when I cargo scan someone I can see the contents of their secured container within their cargo hold.
I would of thought that if you put stuff in a secrured container you would only be able to see the container itself and what other cargo outside of the container they were carrying?
Has anyone else seen this or noticed this change? |

lol welcome to EVE newb. No, cargo scanners list everything in the cargo bay through all the containers. What is unscannable is the corp hangar on an orca and when someone takes a package from a courier contract then courier contracts it to again. |

It has been this way for a long time. Though the irony of a 'secured' container being so easy to scan isn't lost on me. I wouldn't mind it being changed so that secured containers were unscanable. Though I'll admit that I don't have much stake in it either way, since I don't gank people and I do have an Orca if I need to conceal high-value cargo myself. |

^^ Either you don't speak not the whole truth, or you're a little newbish yourself...
Scanners see through 1 level of concealment... So a scan will show the contents of a canned or a plastic wrapped item. However, if you "double wrap" an item, scanners will NOT be able to read it (unless this changed with the latest patches)...
Definitions:
Canned -- When an item is in a can.
Plastic Wrapped -- When items are packaged together in the nice package create when you courier contract those items.
Double Wrapped -- Put an item in a can, then courier contract the can... The resulting package is then double layered, and scanners can't see through both layers.

I somehow thought this changed recently but according to your replies this apparently has been the case for a long time. I guess I just didnt notice before until I popped someone that I didnt realise was carrying all of his lovely goods in a secured container, doh. Oh well, I'll look carefully next time.
Although it doesnt make sense to me that you can cargo scan a secured container... |
