Edited by: Eventy One on 22/03/2009 17:46:04 In the Jove channel, as of late, there has been hourly a new character with names like "dhhgdhghhgd" and "ikolllo" spamming the sale of ISK. Each ad. is exactly the same, and all contain email addresses and websites with names like "iskonsale". If we had the ability to filter content on regular expressions, it would be dead easy to stop these guys/gals.
Please give us the ability to report these accounts to you more easily. How about: Right click username -> report ISK spammer Screenshot or log of channel is saved for proof.
Thanks.

I was the one who proposed said motion, and I thoroughly endorse it. I don't know how hard it would be to auto-create a isk selling report. The only down side is that it could be used by people with little to no morales to spam isk selling reports on innocents. If the tool copies and pastes the chat log to the report, it would be a fairly easy and quick way to report these sellers, because I'm seeing spam messages on the order of once every 30 mins in these public channels.

Which would do nothing to the innocents as CCP will manually investigate any ISK seller before using the banhammer. If they aren't innocent, all it means is that the person who hit report has wasted a GMs time. Send too many false reports and one of these things could happen to your account: - Any ISK seller reports from your account are ignored* for a while. - GMs warn you to stop abusing the petition system. - GMs ban you for not listening to their warnings.
*ISK sellers will spam in populated areas, meaning there will be some people left to report them.

This is something that CCP should really implement. Though there are times when a isk spammer will advertize on the help channel at the exact moment a GM is there, that's always good for a laugh. /signed

better solution would be, not to allow characters with trail account to send messages to the local ... would be better then a mechanism which could be exploited to harras innocent people ...

I don't see how this mechanic would harm people. I could already file a petition that says "Lijhal" is an isk spammer, I'd sure as hell get in trouble for it because you most likely aren't. If you're really worried incurr large penalties (With of course at least 1 warning) and deny usage on trial accounts. It's not creating new powers for players it's just speeding up the efficiency of petitioning of isk spammers, especially since all the isk spammer peitions would follow a set format. --- O.P. is made of fail c/d.

I would love for an easier way to report the idiots, but you would need to add safeguard against people abusing it and thus "clogging" the works as it were. CCP would have to allocate resources to investigate each and every click and mis-click = bad for business.
Better way would be for a context menu item "Report ISK seller" to open petition window with name/category already filled out and we can then copy the text in manually. This would add a layer of protection against mis-clicks while still speeding up the process significantly.
I am loathe to add more to the already poor context menu though, perhaps supplement with a tick-box in settings to remove the "easy" report line.

Maybe have a message box prompting to confirm the alledged ISK spammer by name?
But yes, having something in a player's right click menu that would flag someone for oversight is a great, but unoriginal, idea.
I wonder how many threads are on the eve-o forums about this type of thing.
Then again, since it seems CCP with EvE wants to be Blizzard with WoW IMO, maybe they will implement the feature since WoW has the "Report for Gold sale" button
