Banning certain URLs is pointless. Too many websites out there that can redirect to your site using free short links.
You need to think of a cost effective method of stopping this. Banning IPs isnt one, takes time, man power etc. Banning URLs all together wouldnt be an option because it makes others suffer.
So, how about a simple bit of code that stops people on trial accounts posting URLs just like trial accounts cant train certain skill books? It certainly wont cure the problem due to people typing L I K E T H I S to avoid filters, but it would certainly would make things difficult for them. Filtering anything with www. or .com etc to bring up a message box that sits on top of all other windows making it impossible to type without closing the box first. This would cause a little hassle for the macros im sure they use to spam the same message over and over.
Im not sure how difficult it would be to put an anti spam filter in, preventing the same text being repeated too often, but ofc this could be countered with a bit of variation in macro messages, but again would cause some hassle.
Band-aid for a bullet hole, but better than nothing.
Maybe an option to completely block anyone using a trial account? That would be handy for many reasons =)

I hope you realize those spammers have a very short lifetime span in EVE? No reason why you shouldn't go in your block list and delete them all.

Agreed.
But General Discussion isn't always the best place to promote an idea like this. This forum, more often than not, generates discussion.
I'd recommend checking out Features and Ideas Discussion or Game Development Forum.
Specifically check out this recommendation to make reporting ISK spammers much easier to report.
If you agree with that recommendation, sign the post.
