But it begs the question, where does CCP draw the line when it comes to doing favours?
This isn't something that other players, corps and alliances have at their disposal in any other normal situation.

Well the other guys in BigMek have been bugging me about dropping Industries from our corp name, now with this new precedent in place I can get right on it.
Maybe I can get my character name changed as well....

To my limited knowledge, no. This appears to be a first. Especially when the change of name involves an alliance with existing sov claims that would have been effected if they went the official way of changing alliance names.

TBH, you goon's should just stop crying about this. Unless i am mistaken, CCP is a privately owned company. As they OWN the game and intellectual property, they can change anything at any time without informing any of us. I do believe they reserve that right everytime you agree to the liscense agreement.
I didn't realise it was wrong to expect a level playing field. You're saying I should just wait until CCP flip flops on another policy to appease its buddies or just quit? I'll take neither option and express my disquiet, while I'm still entitled to do so, thanks.

If CCP was clearer on its one rule for everyone not BOB KenZoku .BOB. then there wouldn't be any discussion. I'm just surprised they didn't go the whole hog and give .BOB. back their old space.
