EvE is the best game for true adventuring. It is all people everywhere, and in 0.0 it is only people. People can make the adventures not so dull. You never know what they will do. They could catch you in a spider bubble and destroy you or they could bump you so hard you go spinning for twenty kilometers!
The gameplay I find quite boring actually, what makes up for it is the way they let you play the game and interact with people! Although it seems like most people do not even enjoy talking in the game, maybe on the forums!
Either way it has only gotten better c:
Edit: And reward! Reward is dumb without risk! There is a reason we all like to build sandcastles close to the water! >:3 Ferox #1 |

Hello Kitty Online: Isn't this a expansion to WoW?
after some nice and helpful gentlemen here repeatedly adviced me to go to Hello Kitty Online and I realized that it was free to play, I actually gave it a try (heck, I always thought this was a joke from South Park, never believed that something like this could really exist- more faith in humanity lost). I have to admit, HKO beats Eve in two aspects: 1. much smaller client, no lags at all 2. you start in a single room- and the door is actually working and you can leave this room! (I know, sounds incredible) proof
That being said, the distinct lack of spaceships and inability to ruin other players' days quickly drove me back to eve (tried to camp a door for several hours- but even though you start with an axe in your inventory, you can only use it to chop wood, not to gank other players-how lame)

Top reasons I can think of currently:
- single server - player driven market (I'm trader. ) - API (and all the 3rd party apps) - skillpoint system (realtime, no grinding)

I have to call BS on number 2, if CCP can't make a door work than no one can. Heck even the doors to my General Lee doesn't work I have to jump through the window.

I like Eve because it's the only MMO I currently know of that has potential.
Never played another MMO except for some UO years back as well as some MMOs betas, but never signed up for them when they were actually released.
To me, lots of Eve's unique features are now absolute must-haves for an MMO:
- Single Shard - No parallel instancing - Player driven market - Time-based skills progression - (somewhat) meaningful loss - The possibility of loss anywhere, anytime when undocked - Complexity (could be more though) - Graphical style not looking like it was taken from some cartoon series designed for squalid yobbo kids
If any of these requirements are not met, my interest in an MMO drops rapidly - if one or two are not met, I may sign up for a beta key and check it out, otherwise, I deem it not worth looking at.
Having that said, there's lots of room for improvement (a purpose for small gangs, isk faucet vs. sink rebalancing, nullsec revamp etc..etc...), but Eve's unique position is enough to keep me subscribed, especially with the devs working on the game again - we'll see - maybe I'll eventually even really play it again. You know... morons. |

Spaceships.
Pretty much it. If they nuked Suicide Ganking, Instanced Missions and Exploration, Replaced the Market and Industry with NPC Sell Orders, Added Arena's, Put Weapons Lock on High Sec to any non valid Target, Made Cloaks Time Out, Made Wars have to be Mutual and Outlawed Scams I would still play.
Because just I like flying the Spaceships and shooting at other Spaceships that shoot at me. |

Eve isn't meant to be enjoyable, it's to give you an excuse to swear at the computer. If you're having fun when you play, you're doing it wrong. That's why I love it. Masochism, basically. My cooking is like my lovemaking - fast, greasy, and unsatisfying. |

It is the female voice.
I play Eve just to hear the sweet voice everytime I put my ship in warp or do something in the game that makes her talk. If I need to be AFK I just select some random high sec system, put my ship on auto pilot and raise de volume of my speakers just so I can hear her from anywhere in the house. Sometimes she tells me I do something wrong (just like any girlfriend does), and it always make me smile. I really feel she talks directly to me sometimes, and I try to talk back to her. One day, I know she will tell me more.
Yes, what really hooked me to Eve, is her sweet and sexy voice. |

The following is an instant of real Eve Content that is priceless:
IGÇÖm shopping at a local computer warehouse, to be specific it was a store on the west coast of southern California called, computer geeks. Love the place actually.
As IGÇÖm checking out, a discussion of computer gaming ensues. I ask the small skinny person that is checking me out, If they have ever heard of Eve online? The small skinny person lights up, and starts telling me all about how much he loves the game, and how heGÇÖs a Pirate, and how they all ganged up on a carrier that bounced off a station in low sec, tried to ransom it, and finally just killed it. He went on & on to tell me how awesome the game was, how nasty his band of pirates were, how ruthless and all, and how they never cut anyone a break, and how dedicated they are to ruin just about everyoneGÇÖs day.
So, Looking down at this little guy, As IGÇÖm personally about 6GÇÖ4GÇ¥, and a solid 240Lbs, your, GÇ£Bla BlaGÇ¥ arenGÇÖt ya. That was my carrier you tried to ransom and killed.
I just gotta tell ya. The look of total, real life terror, in this guys face was truly priceless. To add to it, I had just purchased (2) new 60 LCD television sets. So he had to help me load purchase into the back of my pickup, in a parking lot.
I gotta tell ya, when this guy killed my carrier, man did he have a big mouth, I wish I could find the text and post it. He probably weighed 120lbs soaking wet.
So when, GÇ£WEGÇ¥, were loading my new TV sets, we talked about the game, things that had happened, things we would like to see changed. But the most interesting part of the whole experience, was simply the ambience of the moment, the level of respect from this guy I received, His look of serious uncertainty of the moment.
I could go on, but no reason really. For me this was one of my most precious EvE moments.
Oh yea, if you donGÇÖt believe it, blow it out yer A$$.

I'm just curious about the need for specificity describing the clerk, when earlier you hemmed and hawed around with "along the West Coast of Southern California" instead of the simpler "somewhere around LA".
Anyway, sounds like love to me. (I kid)
