Skill requirments are not lighter then inties.
Assaults require 2 rank 1 skills and a rank 3 skill at lvl V, interceptors require one rank 2 skill and one rank 3 skill at lvl V. so skill wise they are the same.
And a cruiser would still wtfpwn an assault frigate.

You mean both require a L5 Rank TWO skill? Unless the Frigate skills have suddenly gone from Rank 2 to Rank 3 on me again...
