Allready one week in wh-space,allready scanned about 8 wormholes and made about 36 bookmarks to all different site ,but no way out. im in a Orca, ships on board:buzzard, cerberus, hulk. Petitioned to ccp that i was probably stuck cause the Orca didnt fit through any of the wormholes, but in short the reply was..too bad for you we wont help. Seems to me CCP failed to mention you definately can get permanently stuck in wh space! I havent seen or heard anyone in system for the duration of my stay and the only wormholes i found lead into another unknown system and are too small for my ship ofcourse. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated exept the ones that contain, leave your ship behind and podkill yourself....

the devs talked about getting lost in WH space over and over. It's supposed to be hard.
I have gotten stuck twice. Once I was lucky I found an exit to low-sec. Today, I had to take an exit wormhole to Stain instead of back home directly to get out.
Just keep trying, and taking big ships through wormholes w/o knowing what ur doing is dumb

You know the way out. It's not up to CCP to make sure YOU are fully aware of the risks involved. There was plenty posted in advance concerning the mechanics behind Wspace. If you feel like you've hit a brick wall, you know the way out, it's the price you pay for not being prepared.

It's really too bad that you took in a capital-sized ship hull. The devs made it very clear that you can get caught in wormhole space for very extended periods of time if you're incapable of locating a wormhole.
It's also worthy to note that, by your own admission, you have located multiple wormholes that lead back to normal space. You are, therefore, not stuck. Your Orca is stuck.
Your options are to either wait until you're able to locate a wormhole large enough to escape through with your Orca intact, (Which will happen, eventually, statistically speaking) or you can abandon ship and head back through with your smaller ships. Heck, if you use bookmarks well to make multiple runs, and find a temporary safespot, you could probably fly back through with most of the gear your Orca is carrying.

Edited by: Thorian Baalnorn on 25/03/2009 21:39:39 ive seen a few cap ships collapse WHs because they try to fit the biggest ships in the game in the smallest holes. running an orca to WH space is just a bad idea unless your setting up a POS their.
As far being stuck, if it were me i would make the best of it and make some iskies mining it. use the orca to store the goods and an indy to haul it out through whs to small for the orca. make the best of it and wait until a big enough WH appears to go through. at least when you get out you will of made some isk off the adventure...though you could be minus an orca.

thanks for the info guys,i might have rushed into this a bit,but this isnt my first wh adventure and i always managed to get out someway. the strange thing is nobody has shown up in here for a week. but i will not give up on my orca and i will keep scanning and scanning and ratting etc till its full. its reassuring to know a wh will come along sometime that will let me out to...somewhere. all the whs i found led into another unknown so far.

Enjoy your stay! (I'm not sarcastic here.) Perhaps it's not easy to find a place like this (except on Sisi).

Dude. One week is not "permanently". I've been station-camped longer than that. Heck, if the rumors out of Delve were true, whole alliances have been station-camped longer than that. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

i think youre right, but that could also mean that there hasnt been a exit/entrance to known space and all the exits i found did go to unknown. i wish i had a map lol

By the way: Did CCP guarantee that a W-system will always have an exit to K-space? Or only any exit at all to any other system, maybe only another w-space-sys? OMG, then (in theory) it could happen that you are trapped in w-space for a long time even with the best scanning equipment and skills.

They only stipulated that a W-system will always have at least one wormhole.

Statistically speaking, he should be able to find a suitable WH, eventually.
I'd BM a hisec WH and get the crap out of the orca, then continue looking for a way to get that out too.

Yes, confirmed. I did just browse through the old dev blogs and found only this:
"Although there will always be a way back to known space from wormhole space, you may have to search long and hard to locate it."
That's a little bit more than "only one wormhole" but not much because it could mean:
"there is a way back to K-space but perhaps you have to jump through 1000 other wormholes before you'll reach it!"

You are not that bad off, you may have to be a bit more patient.
I recall the Corporation Bullet Proof Monks, warping a fleet of battleships into a wormhole, collapsing the wormhole before the last ship could get in...their scanner.
They lost a whole fleet with no hope of ever returning, because no other ship fit a scanner. Gotta love CCP for figuring out how to separate fools from their isk faster than ever.

Seriously. All these folks seem never to have heard the phrase 'First In, Last Out'. It applies to probers, too.

If going from WSpace to WSpace is best to do first in AND last out.
I.e. have two scanning ships, one that leads the way into the new system, the other plays sheepdog to make sure everyone else is out before they leave.
That way if the WH collapses mid jump, both sections of the fleet have a scanner.

has anyone ever had a wormhole exit show up back in the same spot after it disappears?
like if I ever get stuck in one without a scan probe launcher, would I maybe one day warp back to that spot and find another new exit?
i know it sounds farfetched but would be good to know if possible.
