I guess his topic and his wording is what caused issues. Why post that its unsecured funding rather than "Confirming private investment" or something along those lines. And the actual text of his post wasn't "I got funding from these guys and I'm posting so people know I have their isk". It doesn't really fit your explanation at all which is why people said the things they did. I can understand though your desire to have him post to confirm he has your isk, he just did a **** poor job of it.
Oh, and no it has no legitimacy here because it isn't a discussion about the markets. It does not encourage the discussion of any market related topics or ideas, it doesn't encourage any discussion except for trolls and critics. If it weren't for the fact that the rest of the forum is boring as hell right now it would have already rolled off of page one. But it is fun to go back and forth, keeps us on our toes.
Fair point Amarr... I still would argue that this is MD related... Not because it has to do with discussion, but because it has to do with the Secondary Market...

True, it does have to do with the secondary market in a way it just doesn't encourage any discussions. I think it does bring up a good discussion topic and I would have preferred to have seen the OP mention this:
How important is it for private investments to confirm there is an investment taking place and for the investors to confirm it? Can anything be gained from making such a post if no details are given that would help to validate the claim? Is posting something like this for the sake of record keeping the way to go or is there a better method that could be used?
There, now its good for market discussions.

He started "making the rules" after a fair measure of intelligent posting and contributing to MD and the secondary market. You should try it some time.

yes clearly 4 posts of trolling why this thread shouldn't be here sure look intelligent that was a bit low even by my standards.
i mean being in the market discussion telling people about how people have invested him him has no bearing here does it... noooo not at all. in the market discussion about investment.. sound almost criminal my god how could i have been so blind.
all that aside.
to continue the discussion , can you tell us about any of the assorted project the funds have gone into, or are they all top secret and congratulation on your amount raised, it certainly alot more isk that i have.

Well I dont mind disclosing that its mainly a stockpile investment for reselling..
To get out of the micro stockpile situations..
All the above aside. This post should have been flooded way down the list and simply have been a notice that I had entered into an agreement with the mentioned parties, and that I showed my gratitude at their trust. Not as much to build or strengthen my reputation, but more to show them as motivated and serious investors. Even though some would now consider writing a long post about only secure and low risk investments are serious.
I dont think the range of mere 5B is worth such a fuzz. Its to low to warrant a big workload of considering all the details of an IPO. Also this was not public offered, but publically notified..
So to all the designated or self designated regulators of the secondary markets it would be very suitable if you refrain from posting on suspicions and w regulation remarks, untill you see a real need and have at least done the homework in getting something in the range of evidence for intentions of bad conduct.
At this point as OP I would not mind having the thread locked by a MOD.

Edited by: Keyser Kahn on 27/03/2009 15:38:01 Caleb / MD in general - I would like to apologise in so much as I feel responsible for this thread.
I orginally requested a post concerning the loan to a) note it in public and b) as I was planning to reference both this and some other recent personal investment activity to extend to a discussion on the merits of networking:
for the purpose of raising funds; the security concerns of such and indeed the manner in which records of good performance, poor performance or outright failure / scam could be made public. etc.,
The thread developed in such a way that I felt it pointless to post along the above lines and merely organised an API audit to show that I was not an Alt of the Op.
I will make that post however it requires considerable revision in light of this thread.
Edited to break up long paragraph wall of text

I would also like to apologize to Caleb; this thread has gone out of control.
We merely wanted this to be notified in public, which was the agreement according to the contract.
At least we can say lesson learned. Merotech will not make this mistake again...
Merotech will also get an audit done to prove that this is no alt of Caleb's.
