If you are offered a ransom, say:
Yes or No. Promptly.
If you say yes, immediately transfer the ransom. Do not stall (or try and negotiate unless you genuinely don't have that much isk) as you will find yourself popped and podded in short order.
Why?
Well, the eyepatch wearing fraternity are impatient.
They also are used to idiots trying to stall the ransom so friends can enter system to save them. Hint: this never works.
In addition, lowsec is dangerous, being stuck in one place waiting on a ransom increases the chance of bigger fish arriving.
They may htink they can make more isk popping you and looting the wreck than a ransom.
If you want to survive a ransom:
Pay the man. Promptly. Dont smack. Dont break the terms of your ransom Please resize image to a file size no greater than 24000 bytes - Mitnal

Originally by: Rellana I have a different question about ransoms: if you catch someone flying an expensive ship such as a freighter,or a deep-space transport and they can't meet you ransom terms because they claim they just spent almost everything they had buying and fitting said ship,do you accept what they offer or just pod them?

Don't pay ransom ever. When players pay ransom it has nothing to do with the pirate's "reputation", lol...christ talk about dillusions of grandure. It has to do with the fact that the victim is in denial of having no escape in a ****ty situation and is willing to consider anything.
So when you are jumping a high value cargo through lowsec you would rather lose it and the ship than pay a small fraction of its value and get away, still making a profit?
If you want to be a muppet go ahead, cargo drops half the time so we still make a profit in the long run- you on the other hand wont.
We do care about reputations, or rather those of our corps- there is an economic incentive to do so, we 'farm' other players. Please resize image to a file size no greater than 24000 bytes - Mitnal
