I think this is unfair for American players. By the time I get off work, there is no Veldspar left for me. I think we should have asteroid spawn several points throughout the day instead of all at once.
And exactly what is the story line behind asteroid belts magically appearing where they did not use to be?
And why are asteroids always so nicely arranged in arc fashion - can't asteroid belts also be clouds of rock?

We must pray to the God of Veldspar, the Mighty Chribba, for him to ensure a steady flow of Veld. We must make a journey to the Veldnought and offer sacrifice.

A shot in the dark here, but I'm guess gravity from the sun would cause large belts to take a shape. But with the small belts you see in-game, you would imagine they would be more "clumpy." Makes for a prettier mining op, though.
Is the problem with ore just in more crowded systems? I'm still pretty new, but it seems like I can always find ore.

I'm on EST, and I find plenty to mine from 5 to 12. Only time I had issues was when I stuck to noob central and everyone would hit the same belts at the same times
Get up, move around, go explore. You've got a spaceship fercryinoutloud. You're saying that of all the systems out there, you cant find anything to mine?
I'll agree on the arrangement of the field though. It's just too easy to plunk down on most systems and just afkmine all evening. Lower sec's much better/more of a challenge

Find a crappy agent in a station with a 50% refinery in a system near the good mineral prices and use the skill queue to run off some basic mission runner skills. Now you can mine all the lovely ore in the missions and as a bonus get improved standing so you can reduce and eventually remove any refinery tax. In less time than it took most players to max out thier hulk skills they can get in a solid mission raven and then the iskies really start to flow. And it gets even better. If you have a group of miners then one can run missions to find the really juicy ore filled ones and your miners can stay in the old mission space and mine away. Yes that is correct. Mission enviroments no longer despawn when you turn in a mission as long as there is a player in the specific mission room you want to keep around and exploit.

Anyway, a good solution at the moment is mining mission sites. Many of them have huge numbers of roid's that can be mined.

I do agree it is hard to find them sometimes. I live on the west coast of Canada and have to get up at 3 in the morning if I want to mine in hi sec or its gone. But I've went and found a couple fairly quiet systems with desent roids so you just have to take some time and search out so good quiet systems.
Or set a POS up in WH space like I did and mine when you want. All the good low sec roids can be in a WH. Just need to pay atention for anyone entering the WH and there are nice sleeper rats to kill in WH belts.

1) Get the Caldari frig with the + scan strength. (I forget the name) 2) Scan down a mission runner. 3) See if there are roids in his deadspace pocket. (If not, go back to #2) 4) ??? 5) Profit!
Originally by: Julia Steaz And exactly what is the story line behind asteroid belts magically appearing where they did not use to be?
They do not magically appear. You see, astroids are actually sentient beings, who can choose to grow at will. The one hour daily curfew imposed on all capsuleers gives them a false sense of security, which triggers them to grow.
(I said sentient, not intelligent)
Originally by: Julia Steaz And why are asteroids always so nicely arranged in arc fashion - can't asteroid belts also be clouds of rock?
Although feeling a false sense of security, the asteroids recognize that there may still be threats out there. The arc formation is a defensive strategy they align themselves in to defend against future threats.
(Again... sentient, not intelligent )

There are regions of space that do not have as many miners or pilots. Exploit the hell out of them. The minny regions are full of ore for a couple reasons: 1. not as popular a race as others, less people. 2. Piracy is rampant, you will get harassed if you jet can mine.
Stay away from hub systems (all of caldari space for the most part) and you will find lots and lots of ore. I don't think eve is quite big enough yet for this problem to be universal. There are a LOT of belts. Stop, hammer time. |

No, the only reason to mine in low-sec is as bait so that your nearby cloaked mates can get some easy kills.
There is lots of Veldspar in High sec, certainly as late as 8 p.m. Pacific on weekdays. Probably later, but I'm usually done mining by 8.

Eh? I think you need to train Geography to lvl II, unless you somehow meant to write "East Asians and Australians" but made a thinko and typed Europeans instead.
DT is in the middle of the European working day, so those it by the time they get home, hours have passed since the asteroids were re-seeded.
You might also want to look outside the starter systems, since there are craptons of asteroids all over the place where I live (and I'm a European who resides in the middle of a mission hub). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Ok so you don't want to put in any effort... stop complaining. And for your info the respawns aren't awe inspiring, we don't get huge belts filled with 150k veldspar rocks straight after DT
Anyways, as already mentioned, get out of the Forge and look around, look at your starmap, if you hunt there is still plenty of large belts left. If you're lazy, feel free to continue whining

Actually it's our Russian Overlords (all hail). They are in the right timezone. When I am ready to play EVE after work it's already +8 after downtime. Finding a quiet system is best. I found a great one with lots of rocks all the time, but of course I won't say where

Seriously, as others have said, if you are still mining in the standard belts you ARE doing it wrong.
There are huge amounts of ore in the following places...
- Cosmic anomalies, very easy to find. Look for one called Guristas Burrow, been finding those all over Caldari high sec and it yields about 13M Trit
- Gravimetric exploration sites. Bit harder to find and quite often full of Omber (meh, I remember when Omber was at least double the value of Veldspar)
- Missions
Options 1 and 3 take almost no effort. If you can't be arsed to do that then don't expect to come whining on here and get any sympathy.

Julia.. the problem isn't time, it's place. Got to any other empire/region out of Caldari empire, and you will not have any problem finding nice rich 'roid belts that you can happi;y mine on for hours unditirbed (except for belt rats).
Heck, I just moved to a new region a couple of weeks ago.. and the difference is HUGE. A lot fewer pirates and players, a lot more rock that you can mine to your hearts (and wallet's) content. Not to far from me is a 0.7 system wioth over 50 (yes, FIFTY!) belts. Even with a team of Hulks and Orca's, You probably couldn't mine it all in a day. So, move out, look around, and mine on!

Personally, I am getting sick of spending the entire time that I have to play Eve, travelling from system to system trying to find minable fields. I have played this game since beta back in 2004, and watched the community grow and grow to the size it is today, whilst the available ore has not. Additionally, the game is full of gold farmers, exploiting the game by running multiple accounts at once using macros. CCP really need to rethink a few things about this game now. Since Eve came into fruition, they have had a generally safe and comfortable time, due to the lack of rival games in the same setting, sure theres been a few, but they have been pretty poor in comparison to Eve so far. Now, 2009 see's the release of at least three rival MMO's, all of which are looking pretty good so far, lots of depth and thought in them ect. Whilst I dont relish the idea of starting again with a new Space MMO, I hate even more having to waste my playing time searching around for somewhere that I can mine, and if CCP are not going to do anything about this problem then I am faced with the choice of... A- Spending a lot of time training additional skills to take my character in a completely different direction away from mining, like for instance PVP. B- Trying out the free trials on the said upcoming releases and picking the most suitable one and paying them a monthly fee instead of CCP. At this stage I certainly am not saying any of the upcoming games will be better than Eve, only trying them out will show that. But it is wakey wakey time for CCP because the slumber is well and truly over, there are a few new sheriffs in town, all wanting to prove themselves and if CCP are not careful, New Eden will need to be renamed to Dead Space.

There are plenty of untouched systems on the Empire Fringe.
I pretty much have a station to myself in a 0.9 sec system, At most I've only ever seen 5 others in this station. As a result theres a round the clock supply of Dense/Conc Veld in the system belts and in the neighbouring systems which are also quiet.
Open your map, find a quiet region - move to it.

Remember, deadspaces hang around after hand-in until the last person has left them. Even better, if the mission-running side of your corp has a bunch of people farming a number of missions each day, the belt will be around for a week.

American player, and no complaints about downtime or lack of rocks to bust. Like so many before have said, move away from the high pop systems. I'm currently mining in four systems within three jumps of one of my corp offices. Usually not many of us there, and if there is no or little ore in one system, I can easily find a few belts untouched in the other systems I have mapped out. Worst case scenario, I undock my Ferox and run a couple missions until I find some ore, or scan down a site. Don't give the Euros onther reason to call us all fat, lazy Americans please.
