I think this is unfair for American players. By the time I get off work, there is no Veldspar left for me. I think we should have asteroid spawn several points throughout the day instead of all at once.
And exactly what is the story line behind asteroid belts magically appearing where they did not use to be?
And why are asteroids always so nicely arranged in arc fashion - can't asteroid belts also be clouds of rock?

Ticked off quite a few people. I'll see if I can dig up that linky. ---

We must pray to the God of Veldspar, the Mighty Chribba, for him to ensure a steady flow of Veld. We must make a journey to the Veldnought and offer sacrifice.

I'm in the UK and DT is in the middle of my working day. I fully support Cat4CSM.

A shot in the dark here, but I'm guess gravity from the sun would cause large belts to take a shape. But with the small belts you see in-game, you would imagine they would be more "clumpy." Makes for a prettier mining op, though.
Is the problem with ore just in more crowded systems? I'm still pretty new, but it seems like I can always find ore.

When I get off work, most belts in empire are stripped. I look for some veldspar and I'll be lucky to find a nugget.

That's actually the usual formation in 0.0. Though I have seen non-arced belts in high sec as well.

I'm on EST, and I find plenty to mine from 5 to 12. Only time I had issues was when I stuck to noob central and everyone would hit the same belts at the same times
Get up, move around, go explore. You've got a spaceship fercryinoutloud. You're saying that of all the systems out there, you cant find anything to mine?
I'll agree on the arrangement of the field though. It's just too easy to plunk down on most systems and just afkmine all evening. Lower sec's much better/more of a challenge

Find a crappy agent in a station with a 50% refinery in a system near the good mineral prices and use the skill queue to run off some basic mission runner skills. Now you can mine all the lovely ore in the missions and as a bonus get improved standing so you can reduce and eventually remove any refinery tax. In less time than it took most players to max out thier hulk skills they can get in a solid mission raven and then the iskies really start to flow. And it gets even better. If you have a group of miners then one can run missions to find the really juicy ore filled ones and your miners can stay in the old mission space and mine away. Yes that is correct. Mission enviroments no longer despawn when you turn in a mission as long as there is a player in the specific mission room you want to keep around and exploit.

Edited by: shoot me on 26/03/2009 19:29:30 I think they should increase the number of gravimetric sites and move away from this idea of fixed belts with rocks that grow over downtime.
Anyway, a good solution at the moment is mining mission sites. Many of them have huge numbers of roid's that can be mined.

I do agree it is hard to find them sometimes. I live on the west coast of Canada and have to get up at 3 in the morning if I want to mine in hi sec or its gone. But I've went and found a couple fairly quiet systems with desent roids so you just have to take some time and search out so good quiet systems.
Or set a POS up in WH space like I did and mine when you want. All the good low sec roids can be in a WH. Just need to pay atention for anyone entering the WH and there are nice sleeper rats to kill in WH belts.

1) Get the Caldari frig with the + scan strength. (I forget the name) 2) Scan down a mission runner. 3) See if there are roids in his deadspace pocket. (If not, go back to #2) 4) ??? 5) Profit!
Originally by: Julia Steaz And exactly what is the story line behind asteroid belts magically appearing where they did not use to be?
They do not magically appear. You see, astroids are actually sentient beings, who can choose to grow at will. The one hour daily curfew imposed on all capsuleers gives them a false sense of security, which triggers them to grow.
(I said sentient, not intelligent)
Originally by: Julia Steaz And why are asteroids always so nicely arranged in arc fashion - can't asteroid belts also be clouds of rock?
Although feeling a false sense of security, the asteroids recognize that there may still be threats out there. The arc formation is a defensive strategy they align themselves in to defend against future threats.
(Again... sentient, not intelligent )

Yeah, I could run missions, or ...
We can change the spawn times so that the Europeans stop taking all the f***ing veldspar. Option one requires less change on my part.

Again, there are regions of space, that the euro timezone don't control.
Move out of caldari space and look around, plenty of veld to be had. Stop, hammer time. |

If the static belts would be changed to exploration sites, it would be possible to have the sites spawn spread out during the day instead of all of them at the same time. -------- Ideas for: Mining

You mean there's regions of empire space where asteroids spawn a couple hours after downtime?

There are regions of space that do not have as many miners or pilots. Exploit the hell out of them. The minny regions are full of ore for a couple reasons: 1. not as popular a race as others, less people. 2. Piracy is rampant, you will get harassed if you jet can mine.
Stay away from hub systems (all of caldari space for the most part) and you will find lots and lots of ore. I don't think eve is quite big enough yet for this problem to be universal. There are a LOT of belts. Stop, hammer time. |

Even in Caldari space, I can find Veldspar. I play 14 hours after downtime on weekdays, which means the DENSE Veldspar has been cherrypicked out of the systems. Heck, I even find Veldspar in systems that are spitting distance from Jita.

No, the only reason to mine in low-sec is as bait so that your nearby cloaked mates can get some easy kills.
There is lots of Veldspar in High sec, certainly as late as 8 p.m. Pacific on weekdays. Probably later, but I'm usually done mining by 8.

Eh? I think you need to train Geography to lvl II, unless you somehow meant to write "East Asians and Australians" but made a thinko and typed Europeans instead.
DT is in the middle of the European working day, so those it by the time they get home, hours have passed since the asteroids were re-seeded.
You might also want to look outside the starter systems, since there are craptons of asteroids all over the place where I live (and I'm a European who resides in the middle of a mission hub). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Ok so you don't want to put in any effort... stop complaining. And for your info the respawns aren't awe inspiring, we don't get huge belts filled with 150k veldspar rocks straight after DT
Anyways, as already mentioned, get out of the Forge and look around, look at your starmap, if you hunt there is still plenty of large belts left. If you're lazy, feel free to continue whining

Actually it's our Russian Overlords (all hail). They are in the right timezone. When I am ready to play EVE after work it's already +8 after downtime. Finding a quiet system is best. I found a great one with lots of rocks all the time, but of course I won't say where
