WE GET IT, YOU DON'T LIKE EVE.
Please, just leave. The fact that EVE continues to hit new concurrent user records completely negates the validity of your arguments.
Yes eve does not give you the world on a platter, some people like this, in fact it seems an ever growing number of someones like it. Regardless of your efforts to scare away new people, EVE is here to stay and is only getting better.
Uh I haven't played EvE since....I'm not even sure what year it was, maybe 2004? It was long enough ago that I can't even remember the old account info, so I bought three new ones.
I just came back to it, with my wife, because we wanted a space MMO.
So I'm sure there is someone that is doing what you're saying, but its definitely not me.
And as far as concurrent user records, EvE having 60,000 users concurrently really isn't all that big an accomplishment when you consider that a game like Second Life, which is based around well...nothing other than whatever people want to make themselves is concurrently running 60 - 80,000 users a day too.
Far as your other concern, I do like EvE, I LOVE space games, Freelancer was probably my favorite game of all time.
All I'm trying to point out here is that EvE hasn't left the door open for new players. And it doesn't take a genius to sit down with EvEMon, plot a goal path, and look at the time involved in getting to where you want to go.
Now, if that time was say, engaging, and you actually had stuff to do while it was all going on, then, yes I'd have very little argument here, but...there isn't anything to do except sit around being useless and meaningless in a universe full of people that don't give a damn about you and nothing you do has any meaning.
I mean, thats pretty dissapointing, in my opinion.
Honestly I completely agree with what you are saying. I'm pretty new myself and although I like the game and do enjoy playing it I know what you mean when you say the barrier is set awfuly high. I think though that you need to look at the point of the game. Obviously CCP is more interested in making a product that is niche, but something they want to play and they did that fine. Can the PvE missions be made more interesting? Sure. Can something be done to encourage PvP? I don't know if you could do it without effecting the economy negatively. Can something be done about mining? I think the way it is, is good because with high sec resources being valuable at least what the newbie miner does grab sells for a decent amount and quickly.
