Just go to a psychiatrist. He will be able to help you.
Yes, I think I'll do what some guy on the internet said instead of listening to a qualified, educated figure of authority (whose opinion I have already mentioned I didn't consider accurate). Besides, you know what they say about professors - never argue with one until you're sure you'll never need to pass another one of his exams in your life.
Anyway, this was intended to be a discussion thread for people with similar problems, not a thread for our internet psychologists to show off.
And the only thing a psychiatrist would to to "help" is spelling out a list of mental disorders in Latin, and hand me more drugs.
For staying at home all the time, you are quite misinformed and stubborn Guess spending all your years sitting at home has sent you back to the stone age if you really think that all a psychiatrist would do for you is perscribe you drugs. All you'd get would probably be laxative to get whatever you have stuck in your ass out.
Go see a psychiatrist and talk, else just keep your problems to yourself and mope. However, if you've really got your head up your own ass then you can listen to your theology professor, go to church, and sprinkle some miracle water on your head - make things all better in a jiffy.
Edit: There is nothing wrong with not liking the majority of people you meet or not liking big crowds or socialising. However, you have a health problem when you have panic attacks in big crowds, nervous breakdowns when somebody asks you something, unable to speak properly to people, and anything along these lines. It's simply the extreme of being an introvert, just like getting drunk every night or not being able to stop yourself from going out and spending money is the extreme of being an extrovert. Both cases aren't normal or positive.
When you have a physical problem, you go to your doctor - when you have a mental problem, you go to a psychiatrist/psychologist. It's the same thing. Don't let hollywood or your own misconceptions stop you from getting treated. How do I know all this? Because I've been there, got out, and I ain't never ****ing going back. I still play eve, I go out, I have nights where I don't want to talk to a single person. All normal as long as you got balance. -
